Updated to 6.0, WiFi at school doesn't connect (Signal = Poor), but home is fine?

Hello,

I've been trying to connect to my university WiFi but whenever I do, it is stuck at "Connecting."
Before updating to 6.0 (was at 5.1.1 stock), my WiFi was fine and had a strong signal, but now it will not connect and when I try to look at the details, the WiFi is labeled as poor signal.

This is the username and password protected WiFi, with the university's Guest WiFi working fine for me. I did a clean install of Marshmallow.

In advanced WiFi settings, do you have the "avoid poor connections" option turned on?

Which carrier? Any chance you recently changed your password & forgot to update it on your phone?

(I don't even have an "avoid poor connections" option on T-Mobile.)

I don't have that option. (T-Mobile)

I am on T-Mobile as well, and also don't have that option.

I didn't change the password for my account on my school network. I tried forgetting the network and reconnecting but it just won't reconnect. Haven't gone to the IT department yet, but they just closed my ticket without responding (lol...).

Sounds like congestion. When a wap is over subscribed it can crawl. Are others having the same issue when you are?

It probably has nothing to do with 6.0. If you only had the problem today, chances are there was a lot of traffic on the network. Sometimes people don't realize that a network (whether it's WiFi or wired) is like a freeway. Some days there is just more traffic than others and there may be issues. That being said, you should monitor it over the next few days to see what happens.
Also, are you having this issue with any other WiFi or just at school? Instead of submitting a ticket I'd walk over to the IT help desk and ask if there have been any similar complaints. Who knows? Could be an issue with the school access points or something.

Not at all, as far as I know, just me.

I've been having this problem since I updated to 6.0. 5.1.1 was fine for me. It's been like this for about two weeks.
And I only have this problem with one certain connection for students and faculty at school. The school guest WiFi works fine for me (although, since it is a guest WiFi, it's spotty, which is why I would like to use the student WiFi again).

I'll stop by the IT department on Thursday!

Should I consider a Factory Reset before then?

Hi,
I meet the same situation with my school Wifi. It worked pretty good before the update and than... It's really sad, and even the IT Department in my school cannot solve it.
Good luck.

It took me a few tries and several "Authentication problem" errors, but I did get my recently updated N6 to connect to my university's password-protected WiFi. The phone actually connected on the first try, but then lost the connection and went to "authentication problem." I "Forgot" the network 2 or 3X, re-entering my login info each time, and eventually it just took.

Before it took, I made a move to change the phone's APN protocoal from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6, but I never actually made that change. Probably nothing but coincidence, but I noticed that the phone was connected to the network (and stayed connected) right after I had opened the "Edit access point" settings for the T-Mobile GPRS APN (and, I repeat, did not make any changes).

I updated to Marshmallow yesterday and haven't been able to get on my work WiFi since. Got on my home network automatically. My IT dept is stumped. Not a great way to kick off the Marshmallow experience.

I think I found the problem. https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=188867

I tried using hells Core kernel with the old Lollipop WiFi drivers, but with no success. Looks like I'll be going back to a Lollipop ROM for now or just deal with staying on spotty coverage.
