Half complaint, half question.

Updated to Oreo and it completely replaced my home screens with generic new ones. I don't remember any info I read that said to take screenshots, etc because your home screens will be erased. I had sticky notes there with important info, my clocks and calendar all set, etc.

Is there a way to get those back without racking my brain to remember what was on them?

If you use a 3rd party launcher like Nova or Action, it allows you to back up your screens so it's easy to restore.

Were you using the stock launcher? I'm not sure if it has that ability.

luckily though, I just realized my notes got saved in the sticky notes widget app. happier but still very annoyed lol.

when you upgrade your computer's OS, everything is still where you left it...they just swap out everything underneath it. apparently not with Android.

Did you do a factory reset (upon someone's advice) before (or after) the upgrade?

I will often do a reset after getting the upgrade, especially if things seem to be running a little slowly.

I did the same thing. My phone battery life has not been great but I'll give it a week since I'm redownloading apps and setting things up to my taste.

That's definitely a no-no, wiping out your home screens with an update. I never had it happen, but it's one of the reasons I run Nova.

mine changed as well but then went into settings, display, home screen. realized that I had chosen the wrong home page. I didn't have my app drawer anymore so looked and found I had clicked on home only instead of home and app drawer. clicked on that option and Bam! everything back to normal. hope this helps...
