I just bought the epic today and it has software 27 on it. I saw the sticky up top to manually do it but I dont think I understand it. So when I try to update firmware it says im up to date so if I dont do it manually iy wont be pushed to my phone at all? Thanks for your help.

i think itll get pushed to your device sometime soon.

try using your device a lot and it should be pushed in a day or two. if not take it into a sprint service store. you can tell which ones are service stores when you search for their store on their website. maybe you drive by one on the way to school etc. or take it in to radioshack or bestbuy if you bought it there.

im going to try reading through the manual update and see if i can help walk you through it

EDIT: before i try explaining this did you try and update everything on your phone in the settings? i usually just go through them all just to make sure. try again and let me know if you want me to try explaining the manual way to you

I wouldn't recommend any updates until it's released by Sprint. They have to make it Sprint-compatible for Epic first.
For example, Yahoo Messenger has a Video Call for Evo but not for Epic. Installing Yahoo Msgr with Video Conferencing on Epic will not work.

I know it sounds tempting to update your phone to the latest a minute sooner but it could bring a lot of frustrations. Just hang in there patiently...:)

In my case, my epic was hung at firmware DG17 and it would not see the update. Called Sprint, they tried everything, could not update it. After trying everything possible, and not receiving the update on its own after three weeks, I exchanged the device, and the new device would not update on its own. So you just will have to wait and see if this device gets a OTA update, else you will have to go manual.

Robbie doo those updates were released by sprint ota a couple weeks back. I need to update my phone to 7 and then to 18 to get the latest software updates. I thought I read that it won't be pushed to the phone anymore?

i think the guy above me got mixed up.

muscle is behind on his firmware updates because he just got his phone. the phone comes with DI27 firmware and we got an upgrade to DI18 a month ago.

the DI18 is sprint approved. so you have nothing to worry about

I had the same problem - Sprint was no help.
Try downloading an app from the market.
I did this and immediately the OTA update request popped up

Yeah vie tried updating from the market too and it won't recognize the next update. I am two updates behind and I just got my phone today and I can't update. This is nuts. So are the updates not being pushed from 27 to 7?

Yeah Shaun could you pls help me with the manual update cause I don't understand that sticky up there. I've tried and I am not very good at this stuff so I need like step by step with exact details. Thanks

OK, So Sprint Stores do NOT have the updates, and all they will tell you is wait for the OTA update to push. I went through this when I got mine. For some reason, the updates aren't pushing to the phones with a 10/7 build date. You have to do it manually. You won't be able to access the SS Media Hub without the updates. Andrew's Sticky is literally a step by step. I did it with little to no panic. If you run into any problems let us know, so we can try to help.
