hello, I'm on AT&T and currently using a Galaxy S7. I still really like the phone, but at this point it is getting two years old, so I have the thoughts of upgrading.

Everything I've read, it seems that the S9 is only a modest upgrade of the S8. I know I could get the S8 cheaper, so should I save some money and get the S8?

My opinion....when upgrading technology like you are considering, always upgrade to the most recent release. While you may save a couple of bucks by upgrading to the last generation, you make up for it with a longer period of software support from the vendor.

Also, the new SoC will probably be faster and support better battery life.

There are other upgrades with the S8 vs the S9 but the ones mentioned above would influence my decision.

My 2 cents!

If you are upgrading, unless cost is a factor you consider, it is always better to upgrade to the latest flagship and that is S9.

I love my S8 plus. I don't see much that makes me want to upgrade at this point.

I would like to update, but I think I'll wait until the prices will be more affordable ;)

If you are with T-Mobile, you can trade-in your old phone for up to $360. That is basically 50% off the S9. You then have to pay $15/month for 2 years.

I would go with the S9. Latest and greatest. Won't save much with the S8 and you'll have Oreo before the S8, at the rate Samsung and AT&T are going

I just recently went through this same question. I chose the 8+ the upgrades that the 9 have are great, but not something that I would use often. I am really enjoying the 8+. The one bonus of the 9 is it's construction, being a bit sturdier. Although I don't break many if any phones.
