Upgrade to the Pixel?

I just went to the Verizon store and checked out the Pixel's. What can I say -- I'm impressed. First impressions are I was really impressed with the display and responsiveness.

Moto has made their new high end phones too big. I think the original Droid Turbo was the right size. I feel my DT2 is a little too large.

I'd rather have the Z force. But the Pixel XL is impressive software speaking just think future iterations will be better.

I apologize now if someone has already mentioned or asked this, but what are some thoughts on how the updates will work being a Verizon exclusive just like the Droid line? I have been thinking about staying away from Verizon exclusives from Droid Turbo 2 on exactly for that reason.

Do you mean the Pixel? The Pixel, including the Verizon Pixel, received its first update today. Both the unlocked and the Verizon exclusive at the same time.

Honestly, though, unless you have a specific reason to buy the Verizon version, I'd just buy the Pixel directly from Google.

Holy smokes, I have been in a cave. I had no idea that it was unlocked! I thought it was legitimately a Verizon phone like the Droids. Dang, my bad. Thanks for the wake up call!

No, it was a great question, because when the phone was first announced, Verizon seemed to hedge on whether or not the Verizon exclusive version of the Pixel would receive updates directly from Google or if Verizon would decide when they would get them. Eventually it came out that they will approve all updates but they will come on the same schedule as the unlocked and from Google directly.

OP, I personally think that you have a great device. I understand your hesitation. The Pixel line looks great but I'm staying away from it, at least until it drops significantly in price.

If you're at all unsure, I'd say wait it out and see if you still find yourself wanting it a few days or even a week or more from now. Do what you feel is best!
