Upgrading between android version

hello everyone
I'm new to this forum also I'm a noob about Android OS

I've seen and read so many articles and news about Android devices ( mobiles , tablets , handholds ...etc ) , and i know that the android community and devices is growing insanely which is make me happy to beat Apple Dummy and Idiot devices " btw im biggest Apple hater "

anyway , some devices have Android 1.6 installed , some 1.5 , 1.7 ...etc

my question is , Is it possible to upgrade from one android version to another?

for example , I'm interested in Archos 5 Internet Tablet , and it comes with Android 1.6 Donut , and I want to install Android 2.2 on it. is it possible

Until Dell releases the official update, you will have to hack a ROM onto it. Check out the hacking forums to figure out how to do that.
