I have a HTC Desire running 2.1, I bought it unlocked. I would like to upgrade to 2.2.
I have tried going to the 'System software updates' and checked for updates but it says my phone is up to date. If I look at the firmware version it reports 2.1-update1. So I guess it's saying 2.1 is up to date.
I am with Vodafone in the UK and believe they have rolled out an update, a rather controversial one that loads your phone with bloat ware. I believe they have retracted that version now. However as my contract is SIM only I guess they don't know what phone I have so an over the air update will not work.
So I guess I need to load an HTC Desire Froyo ROM onto the phone. Do I need to root the phone first? If so what ROM should I use. I did take a look at the root section of this site but it does not have the Desire listed.
Any help greatly received.
Cheers
