Upgrading RAZR battery

Verizon should stop selling the RAZR and only sell the MAXX. I did my research on the RAZR. When I saw how small the battery was I got the MAXX.

They did a great job on the larger battery upgrade :)

Seriously thinking of doing this. Seems like a pretty straight forward swap. Wonder if they have a white back plate to match my RAZR....hmm.....

this thread has been dead a while. im seriously thinking of doing this.... i already have the car mount to use my navi for my phone... im assuming the reg RAZR bracket wont hold the MAXX seeing as its thicker? can anyone give me a 100% yes or no on this?

I know very dishonest, but would you guys try to pass this off as the Droid Razr Maxx when you tried to sell it?

Kinda hard to do when in settings under phone info, it says"droid razr" not Droid razr maxx

You'll never get away with it so don't be dishonest. Heck, even if you could get away with it I wouldn't do it. Why would you try and screw someone over? I'm not going to judge you but the fact that you even considered this is a horrible thing.

Good luck getting a MAXX if that's what you want though.

I'm only considering selling it as a Maxx, but if I upgraded it with Maxx parts, then it is indeed a Maxx. The buyer can be smart and ask about the history. Get over it, we bend ethics everyday, downloading pirated junk, selling cars without telling people about every engine failure or scratch, or selling houses without telling of all the plumbing issues or cracks. Motorola didn't tell me they would come out with the Maxx just 2 months later that would devalue my device so bad. Nah, they were thinking about the bottom line which is sell almost the same device twice in two months, advertising one as the thinnest phone (with battery issues) and the other as the longest lasting phone. Motorola should have offered us an upgrade option.

If it has the maxx battery, is it not the maxx? Don't see dishonesty. Now, selling a RAZR without the maxx battery and calling it a maxx is.

Selling it as a Maxx is far from the worst thing a seller has ever done especially if it performed exactly so and the buyer never notices. People sell all kinds of modifications that come no where near to what they stated, but this will be with genuine Maxx parts only built together by an "engineer" at CellPhoneRepairShop in LA instead of an engineer in a Mexico sweatshop.

Stating that it's a MAXX and not informing the person that it has been modified into a MAXX is wrong. If the phone breaks and they have the warranty/insurance through Verizon, they are screwed because since Verizon sees it as a regular Razr and not a MAXX, they will get a standard Razr as a replacement and will probably end up paying Verizon full price for the replacement once Verizon gets the modified phone back on the exchange.

So yes...it is wrong.

Now if the seller tells the buyer it was modified and the warranty was voided in doing so, no foul because the buyer knows in advance.

I thought as long as the people at the repair shop installed it, it won't void the motorola warranty. As far as insurance, use farm bureau.

Nah, I don't think Motorola's gonna do your upgrade kit. Its that private company Cellphonerepairshop based in Glendale that will do it. This will likely void your warranty but many of us are probably nearing a year on our devices anyway although Maxx was released more recently so a buyer could think he is getting some warranty although I think selling it may also void the warranty.

I'm not saying I could necessarilly do this especially to a friend, but if someone else did do it, I wouldn't be morally outraged or anything especially in a world of electronics where people do all kinds of mods to their stuff and pirate all kinds of things, at least this one with genuine parts and nobody may ever know.

Btw, I probably think you could change the device to indicate its a Maxx through root and SQL editor.

Nope. Maybe if they repaired it and left it as a regular Razr but if modifying it, which is what they are doing, it voids the warranty instantly no matter who is doing the modification.

As soon as they log into their Verizon account they will see it tagged as a Razr and not a Maxx. You can change the verbiage on the phone as much as you want with Root and all but the MEIN number Verzion uses to connect it to their network will always have it labeled as a Razr. Also, by rooting it and changing the name in the phone, you may affect how the phone can get updates.

If you're going to sell it, just be up front about it. Who knows who you sell it too. If you tell someone it's a Maxx and they later find out that they were duped and have no warranty on it and that Verizon will not support them....they may come after you.

I'm sorry, call me the biggest d&*k, but the more I think about it, I'm gonna sell it as the Maxx, if caught, just say I got it from a friend and didn't know what he did with it. Frankly, I don't think the buyer would care at that point, as long the phone worked and the battery life was indeed good. And more frankly, I don't think I'm afraid of some tech nerd coming after me. You're gonna say I'm rationalizing it, but this device is for all intents and purposes, a Maxx.

It's not a Maxx no matter how much you try to rationalize it to make it seem like it is.

If you sell it as a Maxx its a lie.

You prove it's a lie by admitting if you get caught you will tell another lie to cover it up.

I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence. Sent using tapatalk 2.

Good for you, so moral. I better hear about every dent and scratch on every car and house you ever sell. This is a small item with small stakes, but hope when the stakes are higher, you keep the same standards.

You further prove it's wrong by trying to rationalize a lack of honesty with statements like that. Thanks for the laugh.

Jlee, if the buyer wouldn't care about at that point, then why hide it?

Even YOU don't believe that one, if judged by your actions.

And the stuff about the house, that's why home inspections are done before sales. That's not like selling something on eBay, you know (although houses are sold on EBay, of course).

Hi, Not everyone is complaining about the basic Razr. We have 3 and each of us are content with our batteries. None of us use 4g all day though... so for some users...the Razr still has utility with no hassles.
