Upgrading to the Fold 4 if rumors are true?

I have to give a rollable phone some thought. On the surface, I can't see the point. What would be the advantage over a standard slab or the Fold?

I'm not interested in that. People are already nervous of the durability of the fold, can't imagine what they will think of the durability of the rolling phone. I want something that feels solid in my hands, the folds do. Hopefully the rolling phones will be another version, fold, flip, and roll.

The radius of the curve on the screen of the rollable is larger than the fold. In other words, not as much as a tight of a bend, evident by the fact that there is no sharp crease like the fold phone.

That should make it actually more reliable. It's a win win in all cases. Larger radius curve display with no crease, much thinner and lighter than the fold. The only added complexity is the electric motor to roll out the display, but hardly a biggie.

When I eventually upgrade from my S22 Ultra, if there's a rollable that has a larger battery than the Ultra, inbuilt S pen and cameras from the Ultra, I would seriously consider it.

I don't see one myself. Plus I don't see much durability when it's rolled out. I'm not sold on them yet, we'll see what they are like if they make them and release them. Looks like early fall if rumor mill is correct.

I'm not the biggest fan of foldable form factor (at least yet). Used the Fold 3 for a few weeks but wasn't sold on the idea. Probably will give Fold 4 another shot.

I would say IMO there will be more complexity then the motor. I just watched a video on that, I'm not interested. So far all I have seen the roll out do is display the edge panel. I sure hope Samsung is planning on doing more then that with it. I as of this point see no reason for it, and to top it off people thought $2,000 was expensive for the fold. How's $2,500 sound for the rollable? That phone will start with a 2 in the price, the second number will probably be 2 or more. I also bet the battery will be smaller, no enclosed Spen. It definitely will get the wow factor, I see that screen jamming, possibly breaking, one video I seen it wrinkle just a bit rolling back in. It will definitely be something to watch, but I'll let the young go in debt and test it out for me, maybe we will see 4 year financing.

I'll look forward to your reviews on it next fall if it releases as the rumor mill is speculating. I'll review the fold 4. It'll be interesting to see that's for sure.

Zero interest in foldable devices
You may not now, but the popularity is growing at pretty good rate. I had no interest in the note series at first either and then I got hooked on them. We all change over time and interests change also, specially if pricing comes down.

Everyone complains about the narrow scren on the outside screen of the fold phones, but after I started using the inside screen all the time, I can't stand the screen size of the S22U now, it cuts things off I see on the fold inside screen. It's all in what we train our minds to be normal.

I love the Fold 3 but I do wish the outer screen was just slightly bigger.

I'm simply not interested in a device that I have to open in order to have a big screen but close to put back in my pocket. The extra unfolding and folding is too much bother to me.

Main reason not interested in the Fold... watching my co-worker use his during the day. Constantly on the move talking to people and meetings all the while texting, calls, emails, Teams... all on that narrow front screen. For him the front screen is the primary screen through a work day and would be for me too. Painful to watch him move around in such a narrow screen. It's like... iPhone 5 width right??

They need to make the front screen wider IMO.

Nah not interested. Happy with the S22U for the time being. And unless the camera's are a substantial upgrade, I'm not interested.

Its not bad and it makes it easier to handle but a slight width increase wouldn't hurt .

Looks ok to read. But to use keyboard too narrow for me.

Using a leather folio case? My co-worker too. But didn't help him when his son bumped into it somehow and tore a little of the plastic screen protector on the front glass. I just helped him replace it with a tempered front glass protector that came with rear camera protector that makes the camera flush with his case back now.

I'd go with just a tempered front glass only and something like a kevlar back cover only and a hinge cover if anyone makes those. I like to pull out my phone and take a LOT of pics on the fly. Having to open the case and then have it dangling when try to get a quick shot seems like it would be a pain.

I heard latest Fold 4 rumor was lighter and thinner while maintaining same battery size so I think two things in the right direction.

Yeah Samsung flip case , I'm currently looking for different case and will add glass protector as I'm not a fan of the flip cases , keyboard I'm currently using Gboard adjust the height and been good . I use it mainly media consumption I love how compact it is , it's my favorite device without a question.

I finally got to see a fold out in the real world a few months ago. My coworker had one ( she traded it in for the s22 ultra BTW lol) and she let me play wit it. I wanted to like it ,but it was all hype and gimmicky to me.
