Upgrading to the Fold 4 if rumors are true?

Samsung can guarantee the Fold⁴ to be unbreakable for all I care because I can't drop that much for a phone.

I know I said it before but like I said Samsung offered enough that I got my S22U green for $1,500 taxes included. It would've been cheaper if I got my hands on a trade-in during the pre-order.

Then again I wasn't focused on it because I didn't expect the Pixel 6 Pro to be the worst phone I ever purchased.

I would say IMO there will be more complexity then the motor. I just watched a video on that, I'm not interested. So far all I have seen the roll out do is display the edge panel. I sure hope Samsung is planning on doing more then that with it. I as of this point see no reason for it, and to top it off people thought $2,000 was expensive for the fold. How's $2,500 sound for the rollable? That phone will start with a 2 in the price, the second number will probably be 2 or more. I also bet the battery will be smaller, no enclosed Spen. It definitely will get the wow factor, I see that screen jamming, possibly breaking, one video I seen it wrinkle just a bit rolling back in. It will definitely be something to watch, but I'll let the young go in debt and test it out for me, maybe we will see 4 year financing.

I'll look forward to your reviews on it next fall if it releases as the rumor mill is speculating. I'll review the fold 4. It'll be interesting to see that's for sure.

When I watched the LG prototype rollable in action it looked kinda cool... it almost doubled the screen size. But I agree I don't see the point of Sammie's rollable, when all it does is give you an "edge" feature. Really isn't giving the screen a big size increase, which is the whole point of a rolling/folding/flipping form factor. I like the idea of my Z Flip 3, but don't trust the folding system enough to use it like I would an old style flip phone... and still prefer a slab for overall durability.

It will not have a built in Spen. It will be shorter and wider. Inside will be very close to square vs the 5:4 ratio the Fold 3 is. Camera setup will be the S22 version not the s22 ultra. More than likely still priced much higher my no go point. Battery will be the same 4400mah.

Might keep my Fold³ little longer like how I did with my Note 20u until s22u

That's way too narrow for me.

I like to swipe type, and I'd have time swiping my finger over a tiny keyboard.
I swipe type all the time on the small screen and works great for me. No different than when I used to do it on my Note 10+. BUT I CAN understand it doesn't work for everyone. The main reason I am staying with the fold is my eyes aren't as good as they used to be and the inner screen is great for my eyes. Do love the look of the S22U and sometimes I am tempted. Especially with Samsung's $1000 trade in for the fold3 right now

That's awesome. The Fold is a really nice device. I understand what you're saying, though. I have no idea how I managed to see or swipe on the tiny screens we had 10 years ago.

I am sure the fold is a great device. But the narrow screen and folding just doesn't appeal to me. Nor the price either

I already know I'm gonna want the F⁴.
...but I won't need it and it's just not as practical (based on my experience with the F, F², and F³) as the S22U. We shall see in the autumn.

I would be interested in the rollable phone - I don't think the extra space is limited to a sidebar as what was shown at the show, and I would give it a try - just as I gave the ZF3 a try. My main issue was the size of the outside screen, which is used a lot more than the inside screen to me. I would deal with the difficulty in typing if things on the screen just scaled properly, but it doesn't. Many web pages and apps do not appear proper on the outside screen - things are cut off, weird text wrapping, etc. It's just too narrow of a format that people who design mobile web sites and some apps (Tik Tok, for one - is cut off at both edges) have not compensated for a 21:9 screen. With it unfolded, it's fantastic, and I was also of the thought previously that I had zero interest in a folding phone, but after using the inside of a ZF3, my mind changed and found utility it in when I can sit down and relax with the phone. Unfortunately, my fingernail managed to imprint the screen permanently despite the strength of the screen (but I am pretty sure it's on the protector, and not on the screen itself). But being able to use a bigger screen at will when I was out and about was a game changer. Ultimately the outer screen pushed me back to the S22U/Note.

So, without a wider outside screen, I will not go for the ZF4. If Samsung releases a rollable - I may give it a try for fun as a secondary phone because I don't think the first iteration will be perfect. For example, depending on if the screen wraps on the edge - how can it be well protected - for example in your pocket, etc. I'm not sold on durability of a rollable just yet. If not rollable comes out - there is a chance I might trade the ZF3 to a ZF4 just to keep the trade-in value higher for when they finally release a wide-screen rollable/foldable. Hahaha!

NP. was shopping for new Latercase for the S22U ;)

But I'm gonna show this to my co-worker that has the ZF3... he is tired of the leather case... saw him pull a strip of leather from the cover edge so I guess it's starting to fall apart lol.

Love my LaterCase on my N20U and recommend them to anyone... IF... you don't have a habit of dropping phones. I rarely do. IMO it has no drop protection. Just scuff protection.

Kevlar has just a nice texture and feel... and built in non-slip... at least for me that's how it feels.

Nothing has changed for me. I still dislike foldable phones. My main peeve is the inner screen with its crease. Second is the narrow outer screen. Third is the thickness and weight(I always carry 2 phones). Final one is the price. I've actually disliked then since using the Nokia N97.......in the days when the world was young

I personally have no use for a foldable phone. I want to get it out of the pocket and use it instantly, without opening etc. And the screen of the S22 Ultra is big enough for my needs. At home I use DEX with external keyboard and big screen for poductivity.

Yeah, I used to think the fold was cool but it was too expensive for me even if I was interested. And the Flip is really cool but my friend tried it and the fold and returned both. She said you couldn't reply to text on the outer screen of the flip. But I do know the cameras aren't as good. I love the 22U and the screen loved our 21U too.
