uploading Photos to surface pro

I'm trying to upload photos from Note 8 an d the Surface pro can't see any photos even though there are hundreds on the phone!
Any solutions

What do you see in your computer? Can you browse any other folders? If you can see the DCIM folder, does it show as empty in your computer? What about if you do it from the file manager (not the gallery or Photos) on your phone? If you're opening the Photos app, you might just be seeing backups of your pictures online and the files aren't really on your phone anymore (if you have the option to free up space active).

It's much easier to use the cloud (Google drive, one drive, Dropbox). That way you can transfer them whenever you want to any other devices

When you connect the phone to the computer via USB, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Make sure MTP or File Transfer is selected.
