I have Nexus 5 which was bought in aug 2014. Hence warranty is over.
Problem- after recent android update 6.0.1 my cell isn't reading my sim. I tried everything that tech support @ Google asked me to do.
Everything else is working except sim card issue.

Google is ready to exchange my cell with a refurbished one. Should i accept it?

My device was working well before that update. So should i fight it out with google that updating is thr issue n not mine? Moreover its thr responsibility. They dint say earlier that once u buy nexus u will get to use it for just 1 year.

Fastboot an earlier factory .img
And see if your problem goes away,

Then just wait for another update

I tried factory reset, airplane mode, then *#*#4636#*#* option to fix sim card issue.
Nothing worked for me.

I seem to recall the SIM problem being solved by some by reseating it.
I've never had a problem accepting refurbished. At worst, there was a minor problem that was fixed so you can consider it pre-tested. More often, there was nothing wrong with it in the first place.

I just did the refurbished swap with my HTC One M8 for the same issue and the refurbished phone was a POS

The thing that bugged me is wile waiting for the refurbished phone I went ahead and took it back to it's earliest firmware and it didn't do the "preparing sim card"

What I ended up doing was using insurance over warranty to upgrade to the HTC One M9 cause I was very disappointed with the refurbished phone.
