Usb 3.0 speeds on a smartphone?

Hello. Today I bought a Usb C to Usb 3.0 adapter for phone(Otg). It claims to be 3.0. However when I plug in my hard drive or flash drive I to the phone files transfer with USB 2.0 speeds. Usb 3.0 should be 400 and some megabytes per second right? I am not getting that speed. What could I do to get that speed? I mean why did I buy a 3.0 otg adapter if I am getting 2.0 speeds. My phone is Huawei P10 Plus. Also the adapter seems to have 9 pins inside the Usb port so it seems like a legit 3.0 port. Why am I not getting the speeds then?

Just because it's USB-C doesn't mean it's USB 3.0...

Yeah ok thanks! So I didn't do my researchand bought something I didn't need. I already had a 2.0 usb otg cable type c. Well guess I should do my research then before buying.
