USB 3.0 -- Who's gonna have it?

I love USB3. Its hard for me to use USB2. I replaced most of my USB sticks with USB3 to make my life easier.

I recently started doing that too, just makes life so much easier doesn't it!

I use my USB sticks to transfer large files all the time and the speed difference really helps. Also replaced an old 500GB External USB2 HDD with a 1TB External USB3 HDD and love the 3.0 speeds. Don't ya just love technology!?

The Next step is to get an SSD!

PS: TIL USB 3.0 was first introduced in Nov, 2008!! I wish the USB 3.0 adoption rate was quicker.. How isn't it everywhere yet? It's been out almost 5? years...

Bluetooth 4.0 came out in June, 2010 and then started coming out in all the new phones in 2012. Which means BT 4.0 adoption only took about 2 years..

Once you go SSD, it's very hard to go to HDD. I have a SSD and I love it. Very quick and boots up within seconds.

The faster you charge a battery the shorter the life span of said battery will be. As it might be nice to once in awhile be able to boost charge your device in a pinch. I much rather take the time to plan out my charge cycles and have it charge as long at low amps as I can endure. In the passed removable batteries made this easy. I could leave a battery on the charger for hours as I used the other never having to be tethered to an outlet ever.

Because the method that USB 3.0 used to increase speed is software based unlike USB 2.0. Making USB 3.0 actually much more unreliable since there are so many propitiatory versions mucking up compatibility and most importantly security. On the consumer end this is unimportant but companies are hard to except it because they expect user end customer service headaches. So it has been for the most part an after market addon. But as we know Sammy likes new shiny features.

Also doesn't help that USB 3.0 cords and connectors cost 3x more to make.

Also made for USB Hak5 switchblade&hacksaw to hack and copy stolen data that much faster and easier.

I would assume within the next year. They just need to shrink down the connector. Its a nice feature, but not a pressing need now that most phone manufactures have some kind of cloud syncing for data.
