I usually use BT headphones, but I also want to pick up a pair of wired headphones for times that my BT headphones are out of battery or that I can throw in my bag while traveling. I have no desire to use the dongle, so that means I'll need to pick up USB-C headphones. Does anybody recommend a pair? I don't want to spend more than $35. I was looking at these on Amazon:

I don't have those, but I do have this pair (it's about $40 on Amazon). They sound pretty good to me and work on the Pixel XL , so I assume they are going to be fine on the 2 XL (i.e. proper circuitry in the headphones).

Really hoping Klipsch comes out with USB-C earbuds. They sound phenomenal and have the most comfortable fit of any buds I've ever tried.

I think they're out of luck then. I tried a third party USB to 3.5 adapter and my Pixel 2 refused to use it. Told me it had detected an analog audio device, and only google-approved devices can be used for sound. This, to me, is a pretty hard slap in the face. Bad enough we lose our headphone jack, but now the USB C options we have are artificially limited as well. I tried the USB-C to 3.5 adapter my phone came with and it's not great. Doesn't really sit firmly in the port and there's lots of crackling if it gets moved around.

If you do get the $35 ones please let us know if they work?

Thanks. Just bought these last night.
Will see how they work with the Pixel 2!

The only USB-C units in that link are all well over $100. OP wanted to spend $35 or less.
They might be better off just buying extra adapters from Google for $9 and a $20 pare of headphones and keep them permanently attached. Sounds cheaper to me than spending $100 on USB-C headphones.
