USB C Dongle Anyone Use Them Still[emoji780]

I use a dongle 99% of the time because I hate bluetooth honestly. I'm used to having a headphone jack, so since that's not around, I use the dongle. A wired connection will always sound better than bluetooth. I use it for listening to music in my car. We use two vehicles though and I occasionally am forced to use bluetooth since I only have one dongle.

The most annoying thing for me about the dongle is the fact that I swear every 3-4 months, it shorts out and I gotta order another one. I swear, with an actual 3.5 mm port and real aux cable, this never happens. But, it is what it is. I miss the days when features like 3.5mm headphone jack ports and SD card support were things that were on phones.
Purchase a Redmi then. Both jack & SD support. Your problem solved.

Isn't that device only sold in Asia?

I'm pretty sure we can get them here in Europe... it's Xiaomi's budget brand. Xiaomi devices also also include those legacy features though.

If you are in North America, it's probably more trouble than it's worth to get them.

I am not convinced that using Bluetooth over wired is the limiting factor when listening in a car or using earbuds. If feeding a proper audiophile top-end hi-fi system maybe but then you are into the realm of an expensive third-party DAC to handle conversion of the music stored in digital form to analogue. A car, by definition, is a sub-optimal listening environment and it matters not how much you spend on the in car audio system you won't get near true fidelity even though for typical driving music with limited dynamic range it will still sound pretty good.

I got two Google USB-C Dongles for "free" from my carrier, I ask for an eSIM but didn't want to pay $20. I told them my other carrier gives them for free, so sales said if I buy something for $20 he'll hook me up. LOL

Anyways, I still have two Sony Headphones, that I keep in my vehicles in case my AirPod Pro's battery life is low.

I hate earbuds, I can't get them to stay put.

I bought a cheap usb - c dongle even though I have a headphone jack on my Poco (Xiaomi) phone, just to compare.

I have wired Grado Headphones and my high end 2020 phone has Hi - Res Audio certification, which I initially thought didn't mean much but is actually a very good experience - through the regular headphone jack.

I don't think it gives the best output through the usb port and dongle, but I've only tried it a couple of times.

I do see there are proper dongles with DAC or whatever technology built in. When I upgrade eventually I may need to try an inexpensive one of those.

I only listen to Music Albums ripped from my CD or other collections and stored on my phone. No streaming.
