I have downloaded and installed the usb drivers for the note onto my windows 10 laptop. I connect via USB and my phone starts charging. I do not get a prompt to connect as a MSD and I do not see any way to change this like it says to do in the notifications. Anyone have any ideas? I really want to use the USB tethering, but it is not seeing my laptop in the tethering section either.

I also have turned on developer and USB debugging. Still no joy! This is frustrating

While connected with your USB cable, try going to Settings>Storage then tap the menu (3 dots) in the upper right corner to choose the type of USB connection. Select MTB for file transfers rather than Charging Only (or PTP which is for music only).

Hi! I recently purchased a used pc and at first at thought it was the pc not detecting moto sp, but after a few ts steps and some hrs spent researching for the problem I thought, maybe I should try a different USB cable and that's when I noticed it was the cable, but then I thought; this cable came with the sp and its new so how is this possible, and that my friend is how I got here. I'm guessing it is like someone said that some cables are only for charging because that's all it does. I can't believe they don't tell ppl that, could've saved me lot of time.
