USB PD Car Charger Intermittent Charging

I was wondering if others have experienced this issue.

Over the course of 6 months, I've purchased two different Anker USB-C PD chargers for my car. They both seem to exhibit the same behavior. More often than not, the phone will intermittently charge, at roughly 1 second intervals. I've tried two different charging ports, and various cables, both in the same car. I couldn't find anything about it in charger reviews either.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

Does it happen with the stock pixel cable?

How about the one that plugs into the power outlet in the car ?

I don't really understand what you're asking. Did you mean the 24V outlet that looks like a "cigarette lighter?" That's the outlet I've been using. The interface is:
24V Outlet > USB-C Car Charger > USB-C to USB-C Cable > Phone

For the record, I have NOT seen the same issue when using home chargers. I only ever see this issue in my car.

Looking at reviews on Amazon, it seems like a common issue with Pixels. Google sells a Belkin one on the Google store, so maybe try that one?

Could it possibly be your car? Can you try using your setup in someone else's car to find out??

And make sure it's pushed all the way in. It can feel as if it is, but it's barely making contact with the center pin. I've done that more than once with a fireball (rotating red light).

That could be your problem. Car outlets are typically 12v. If yours came with 24v, that will overload the charger :)

Anyway, I have used a 3rd party 35w PD AC charger with my Pixel 3 and not problem. It can fast charge my Pixel 3 or my wife's iPhone X. So, your problem must on the charger side.

This is the one I used , the USBc was finicky but the other port which is USB work without issues

That's a useless charger, IMO, unless you like only slow charging your phone. These days, a USB-C PD charger is a must. It is the modern standard for fast charging. Pixel 3, iPhone 8 or newer, many new laptops can all charge from USB-C PD. Only USB-C port can deliver PD, not USB-A ports.

Disagree with you there, fast charges all my phones and it has a slot for USB to usbc and usbc to usbc . I've had it for little over a year .

Pixel 3 only fast charges on USB-C PD. Nothing else. I'm not talking about other phones that may support Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0/3.0

It rapid charges my pixel 3xl and 2 xl
If you like proof I'll be glad to make a screenshot for you later when I get home?
