USB Tether for Internet - Not Storage

Phone is LG Optimus V (Virgin Mobile)

I have the widget loaded to enable USB Tether for internet.

I have also downloaded the "tetherxp" driver available on the google android site.

Now, when I plug the Phone USB connection into my laptop... it automatically recognizes the phone as only a Mass Storage Device. It doesn't allow me to change the drive over to a Internet USB Connection.

Anybody have the same issues... with a workaround/fix?

The only rom with USB tether capabilities is AOSP's CM7.

All of the roms have wireless tether capabilities, even the stock rom from VM. Get a wireless tether widget to enable the Hotspot feature.
