Use External SD Card for Large Game Data Storage

Over the holidays I downloaded a few games that need large data files. I'm sure you have run across a few in the market yourself, the game actually only has a few megabytes worth of data on the market, but then it prompts you to download a half a gig worth of the game online.

For christmas I got 1 of the sd connection kits for the galaxy tab, I was wondering if that data could be moved onto the sd card so that I can free up the memory on the tablet itself. I understand that you would need to plug the card into the tablet in order to play the game but, That would not be a huge concern for me.

Is this possible, has anybody done this before?

Any updates on this?

I would love to do this with Asphalt HD (had to download over 500mb worth of data before I got to start playing).

The apk files that you download from the market for games like MC3, Asphalt and GTA3 are just installers. I can't find the post and can't remember the site I found it on but from what I remember reading is this.

When you purchase one of these games what your downloading from the market is nothing more than an icon, license key and some kind of package that automatically connects to say GameLofts servers.

Then the first time you run the game/installer it first checks to see if you have enough free space to install the game, then connects to GameLofts server, checks for a license key. Then after all that's squared away it downloads the game its self.

Now to your question about being able to move the game data to a sd card and play it from there... More than likely their is away. Their are just a lot of things that would have to happen to well... Make it happen.

Running a game like MC3 from a sd card would mean that card would have to be a high class card with very high read/write speeds. The adapter its self would also need to have a very high transfer rate. Not to mention their would probably need to be some serious coding work and scripts written to make our Tabs think the sd card is part of its internal storage.

Sent from my Galaxy10.1 TouchWiz/ADWex equipped Starship.

Class 10 32gb sd cards (Amazon Basics) are pretty cheap an Amazon.
Got one for myself.
Is the 30 pin connector fast enough?

I downloaded a large game onto a 32gb Micro SD that fits into my Zeki Android Tablet and would like to play the game on my tablet. I can find the files in the search but when the .exe is tapped, it doesn't open and there is no 'desktop icon' to launch the game.

Is there a way to play the game on my tablet from the card and save game data back to the card ect?
