I bought a braided USB-C 6 foot cable from the AT&T store for $21.00. I definitely would NOT call that a cheap cable. Hopefully I am safe

Should be . I don't buy cables from carriers due to them normally being very overpriced.

I never buy cables from where you bought the phone from. I just happened to do it after seeing the very short cable from the manufacturer that included it. It is all made in China by the way.:'( Quite crazy on price's

According to Benson's spreadsheet, yes. I bought one of the cords from AT&T. It was expensive and seems like it's good quality. It's definitely nicer than the one that came with the phone. I also bought some NekTeck Micro USB to USB C adapters for my regular micro USB cords. They have the 56k ohm resistor so they are safe.
