Used smartphones on Sprint

My employer is on the sprint network, and has told us that we can bring our own phones if we wish. (They issue out cheap pieces of garbage phones)

I don't have any experience with Sprint's devices, so I was wondering if people have been happier with one device over the others.

I have no problem getting an older model, as long as the screen is bigger than 5.2". Any ideas?

I would say an LG G2 or LG G3 would work.
I have owned both and they still are great devices.

Man, the Note 4 looks like an absolute beast. I've seen some on ebay that say "bad ESN". Does anyone know what this means?

One thing you should know before you invest in a Sprint phone is that they have joined the CCA which will provide customers with LTE roaming on a bunch of regional carriers nationwide. That roaming will be treated as native coverage just like you are on Sprint's network. To my knowledge, the Nexus 6 is the only phone that you can buy right now that is fully CCA compliant. It has been confirmed through SEC filings that the newly announced LG G Flex 2 is CCA compliant. It is presumed that this year's yet to be announced refreshes from HTC and Samsung will also be CCA compliant. Personally, I would not invest in a new phone right now given how close we are to the 2015 model refreshes if CCA coverage is important to you. For a phone to CCA compliant it has to support LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26 and 41.
