Using a Monthly 4G phone with a Value Plan?

I've been told by a rep that the Monthly 4G version is identical to the Value Plan one. I even asked if I could use one on my Value Plan without a problem (she said it would work).

Can anyone think of any problems I might have? I'd love to pick up an Optimus L9 for my wife at the $200 price I keep seeing.

We'll still be on the old Value Plan, since we're getting our two additional lines for $0. I want to know if a sealed Monthly 4G phone will just work if I pop her SIM in.

Assuming it takes the same size SIM as her old phone and is unlocked it should work just fine.

One T-mobile rep told me the two types are phone are locked to their network in the same way, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem.

If you're not on a contract and it's a T-Mobile phone, they'll unlock it for you regardless, but post- and pre-paid use the same network, so even if it's locked I don't see how it would be a problem.

It worked perfectly. Now I have a simple flip phone as a spare too!
