I have several Android TV boxes, and thousands of videos recorded on Hard Drives. I have some ancient hard drives in which videos are stored on that I want to keep. It will cost a lot of money and time to transfer these videos to new 2.5 USB drives. What I have done is buy a Universal Hard Drive adapter in which I can simply plug in any hard drive into, and it works great, with one exception. It Identifies the Hard Drive without a problem. The problem is that it takes a very long time to load the files from the drive to the Android TV box for them to play. Is there a way to decrease the amount of time it takes to load the videos? Maybe using a USB stick to cache the videos? Please help?!

I moved this to the Android TV forum for more specific traffic.

It depends on the box and the adapter. Are they both USB 3.1? Or is one of them USB 2? That would slow things down. The port on a newer box should be fast enough to watch a video, but if it's a 5 minute video, it's going to take close to 5 minutes to load it, unless both are 3.1. Transfer rates are:

2 60MB/s
3 640MB/s
3.1 G1 625MB/s
3.1 G2 1.25GB/s
