Using Another Line's Upgrade?

I've never had a problem getting the phone, activating it on the line with the upgrade, and then calling Sprint and having them swap the numbers on the phone manually when I get home. Takes some time to do, but it all works and transfers and I've gotten my rebates when I do it that way.

I'm planning to do this (use the upgrade eligibility of one line to get a new phone which I plan to activate on another line).

The new phone would be my first 4G phone.

But I wonder: Is the $10 4G surcharge going to be applied to the eligible line, or will it just be applied to my non-eligible line when I attempt to activate the phone on that line?

I don't really want to pay one $10/month charge--I would hate to be stuck with two!

thanks!

The $10 charge goes to the line that the phone is on only. It needs that charge to activate the phone. If you move the phone to another line, the original $10 is off but a new $10 charge goes to the new line.

I did this with my Hero (purchased in March) and had a data card line that was off contract.

The BB sales guy purchased the Epic on the data line and immediately swapped the Hero from my primary and the Epic for me (I didn't have to wait 72 hours nor did I have to do it myself). I paid $250 for the Epic and the rebate was automatic.

All I did was ask and the guy said "sure, we steal upgrades all the time."

do it at BB or RS, instant rebate. Do it at sprint they check the line and if it hasnt been on for 30 days no rebate, i did this to get my epic through RS. So no biggie.

damn i didn't think of this. i bought my epic pretty much off contract lol. oh well its good to know for the next time i get a new phone.
