Using gapps.zip vs. just loading the Google Apps from Market?

If I'm understanding correctly, the reason to use the gapps.zip and install from recovery instead of loading the Google apps from Market is that doing it the first way will put the apps into a system memory space that wouldn't have otherwise been used...saving space for your other data.

But what happens if there is an updated version of the Google app on the Market? Once you update, will you basically end up with the original version still in the system memory space and the updated version in the user memory space? In other words, the only way to really save space is to either not update the Google app or get an updated gapps.zip package and reflash it?

From my experience, on IHO builds, you wont have the market without flashing the gapps so you have to flash them everytime.

..... gapps is the Market. You install gapps to install the Market because Google is not allowing it to be bundled with iho roms

Correct.

One option is to use TB pro which has a feature to merge the updated version with the version stored in the rom.
