If I'm understanding correctly, the reason to use the gapps.zip and install from recovery instead of loading the Google apps from Market is that doing it the first way will put the apps into a system memory space that wouldn't have otherwise been used...saving space for your other data.
But what happens if there is an updated version of the Google app on the Market? Once you update, will you basically end up with the original version still in the system memory space and the updated version in the user memory space? In other words, the only way to really save space is to either not update the Google app or get an updated gapps.zip package and reflash it?
