Unlocked my phone with Sprint before leaving the country, but all of the SIM cards sold in Beijing are the wrong size? Does that make sense?

It looks like the actually gold foil chip in the Sprint SIM is bigger than the chip in other SIM cards. So even though the plastic is the same size and fits into the slot in the phone (mini, maybe?) the phone refuses to read the card.

Is there a special name for this kind of SIM card? Or does anyone know if it's sold by a particular Chinese company (Unicom, Telecom, etc.)?

Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Nope! As I said, the plastic card is exactly the same size and fits right in (micro, as you said). However, the foil chip itself is a different size than the one in the original Sprint SIM card, and the phone gives me a "No SIM card" error message when I insert the Chinese cards.

Sorry I misunderstood. Can you show us a photo of that Sprint card compared with other cards?
