Using Note 4 after getting Note 5

So my Note 4 32GB got retired when I got my Note 5...but I have a Gear VR Note 4 version....can I reset the Note 4 and use it with the Gear VR....get the SW and files etc from Oculus etc via Wi-Fi since the Note 4 won;t get 'activated' on the Verizon network since I replaced with with the 5 (whcih I love!).

You can use it on WiFi only, everything except calls/texts will function. I always keep my old phone for various purposes.
