using note with tv via hdmi connection??

Hi really need help i need to show a slide show presentation on my tv using the hdmi cable from my samsung galaxy note 10.1.
I have the connections, hdmi connector ect but when i plug it all in nothing shows up on the tv screen. Im not very savy with technology so id really love some help!!

1 did you connect the power to the hdmi adapter
2 if yes. Conect the hdmi cable after connecting to the power
3 your TV should be selected to hdmi

Also, check the ends of your HDMI cable. Some (Visio) are specific about which end connects to the TV.

Check the hdmi ports, some new stupid tvs only allow certain type of files.
I know a new sony tv has 3 hdmis but 1 of them ONLY reads pictures and charging phones....bumb right
Just check around the port they will say some times about it.
