Hi. I am brand new to Samsung getting my first galaxy phone (S7 Edge) Friday. I have one simple question. If I install and use nova launcher does this take the place of TouchWiz? Does nova remove or replace TouchWiz? Thanks all.

So if there are TouchWiz features I like will they no longer be accessible ?

I can test it out for you. I'm on an s7E and using nova. What is it you're looking for?

I believe most if not all of the TouchWiz features are in Nova Launcher. I use NL and I can still apply my widgets, adjust the icons. The Messaging app still looks and functions the same....hmmm I can't really think of anything else but you should be able to do everything you're looking for in TouchWiz on Nova Launcher but with some added bonuses.

Only issue I ever had is that it doesn't pick up the Samsung theme icons.

It won't delete TouchWiz or anything like that. You will be able to choose which launcher you want to use. And launchers only change the appearance of the home screen and such so the quick controls you see when you drag down with your finger will still be there.

I like tesla unread count which is made by the same developer as nova launcher. It allows you to create unread count bubbles for almost any app, but especially Gmail, which for some unknown reason touch wiz doesn't do.

I should add, the only way to use tesla unread count is to run Nova Launcher as your home replacement
