I own a Straight Talk Unimax U240C mobile hotspot. Can it use SIMs from a different prepaid carrier, or is it locked to Straight Talk? Competing carriers are now offering lower rates.

Based on my research about that device, it's using Verizon's EVDO technology, so it would only be compatible for Verizon based Prepaid carriers, such as Straight Talk, and MAYBE the others Page Plus or Tracphone, BUT you must tell Tracphone its a Verizon device.
