Using the Nexus 5X on Verizon?

I got my new unlocked 5X yesterday. I have an active nano sim on from my Droid Ultra...moved the card, dialed *228....no service.

well, I found the problem...poking through the phone info section in settings....seems they sent me the H791...

Correct the 791 isn't compatable with cdma. I use it on project fi. Works fine on T-mobile and open wifi

All right.
On the Verizon Wireless side, I got HD Voice. Easy peasy.
On my Nexus 5x I seem to have LTE activated.

Ran a test with a relative. The incoming voice mail did NOT generate the NM text.
However when I deleted that voice mail, I still got the MBU text.

I guess I didn't do the right thing on my side and some of you can no doubt tell me what. Please provide screen shots of the path to the place where I have to do it, I'm a newbie.
A newbie running Nougat.

Just change to basic voicemail and switch to Google Voice for free visual voicemail. Works great on Verizon and my 5x.

Hey, I know this is old, but here's my question:

My son is on Project Fi w/ his Nexus 5x.
We want to move him over to our Verizon account, so we need a new sim.
They say that based off of his IMEI #, his phone is a 3g phone, and won't send us a new sim.

"Let me pay you guys money," I said.

But, no dice.

Is anybody using the 5x still on Verizon? Why won't they activate it?
What should I do?

They are full of crap - the Nexus 5X is not a 3G phone, it fully supports LTE and works fine on Verizon. My daughter used hers for quite a while (until she decided she needed an iPhone) on Verizon. They just want to get you to buy a new device and make payments.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, I put my SIM into my son's Nexus 5x, it worked perfectly. Sigh.

I am going to use my wife's iphone 6, use that phone's IMEI, get them to send me the SIM, then once I get that SIM activated using the iphone 6, I'll move that SIM into the Nexus 5x.

That should work, right?

So, yeah, I did that. Activated it w/ my wife's old iPhone, then put the sim into the 5x. Worked like a charm.
