so i am a long time storm 2 user loved the phone but some of the functions were painfully slow
got the TB yesterday here is my question
whenever i want to initiate a function on my TB(initiate a call or text or email or anything) is it really true that i have to hit the power button on top and then swipe . is there anyway to put the phone in a mode that just make the screen go dark then a push of the soft keys on the bottom puts screen on
thanks

to my knowledge...nope.

i mean you can go in settings an adjust how long screen stays on before turning off... but your lookin at a dead battery quick

You cannot use the softkeys BUT there is an app in the market called NoLock. That app will shut off the need to swipe down when you wake the T-Bolt. You will have to use either the volume keys, or the power button on top to wake the screen, but at least this gives you the ability to bypass one step to get into your device AND you can now use the volume keys to wake screen if they are more convenient than the power button for you,

Widget Locker gives you less steps. You can add shortcuts to your lock screen. It also lets you slide your notification bar open from the lock screen.

Paid app but worth it.

Awesome...thanks.
I don't mind pressing a button like power or volume...but sliding down the lock is a PITA coming from a BB.

No problem. I'm the other way around..I hate having to press the power button and miss my trackball from my Nexus One. I still keep pressing where the trackball should be to wake the device :D

I actually like the down-slide bar that Sense uses. I just wish I could press a soft-key to wake the screen

+1 for NoLock. I didn't care for WidgetLocker. Don't let that sway you though. I tried it on my Fascinate and I didn't like ANYTHING about my Fascinate :p

I gave up Nolock after getting Widget Locker. Works much better on the TB. Alot of 5sec delays on my OG Droid. I didn't clutter it up with apps and widgets. I have two custom sliders and two shortcuts. Which gives my quick access to eight functions and apps.
Plus direct access to my notification bar. Which is what I used Nolock for.
