Using Vignette with your Droid X?

I just got a email reply from the Vignette makers - with a link to the new test version that incorporates ISO settings, Macro and a couple other enhancements on my X. So far so good!

I just bought Vignette based on the comments here and in the app forums, and I have to say the images produced by Vignette own the stock camera 3 ways from Sunday.

Granted, I got some good looking images with the stock camera in good lighting, but even then half the time it was blurry from having to push the mechanical button. With Vignette the exposure is always excellent (although I would like to be able to select it myself), there is much less (if any) noise (hurray for larger image files!) and I've yet to take an image that is blurry. As an avid amateur photographer who started way back when there was no "D" in front of "SLR" it takes a lot for me to want to forgo a mechanical shutter release button, but on the DX I'm totally sold on the way Vignette handles images. Even the longer processing time seems like a small price to pay for the increased image quality (and no, they aren't paying me to say that).

That will be awesome, I can't wait!

The true test of these apps is indoor shots. Most will take decent to good shots outside in good light.

Can you point me to where I can change the MP settings in 360? All I see is the Photo Resolution Selection. Is that the equivalent or am I missing something? What do you have your's set at for the Photo Resolution Selection? Thanks in advance!

that's the equivalent, you can use this chart as a guide - because of the non-standard widescreen format, the numbers don't match up exactly to the options, but it's better than doing the math (a megapixel = a million pixels, so you can multiply the width X height dimensions, in pixels, to find out exactly how many megapixels you've got).

I've been playing around with different resolutions...not sure what I like best at the moment. Will keep on experimenting and try to determine what is best for each setting.

Thanks for the tips. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but the pics I take with 360 are not that good. Vignette is producing some great pics for me and I am quite happy with them but I would really like to figure out what is going wrong with 360 for me.

I had issues with c360 at first as well. You need to check all the settings to be sure everything is either set to auto and all effects turned off. Then check the quality settings and be sure everything is set to the highest. Once I did that the pic quality improved dramatically, better than stock imo.

Alright, based on this thread I'm gonna finally but vignette. I've been using the demo for a while, but have still been on the fence about getting it for some reason. I didn't really like the 360 demo that much, but to be fair I only used it a couple of times.
I actually liked that retro camera, for what it does...if you're into those retro looks and frames, it's pretty neat. Very limited as to what it does though.
Well, vignette, here we go!

can anyone tell me how much the real item costs in USD? I paid for it and charged me 5 + another 1? Not really sure why.

My stock camera takes very clear photos, nothing like that pic posted. I would be interested in this app due to the ability to touch screen take photo, but it sucks they don't let you test higher than 3mp to test the pic quality.

I just maxed out the settings on 360 and Vignette (both are the paid versions) in terms of resolution, MP's, etc. Auto flash on both. Here are a couple of quick comparison shots from my desk. The post it tells which is which.

Good and bad with both. I think overall I prefer the Vignette version though.

Here's a couple of shots of stock camera vs vignette. 8mp on both, auto everything. The main difference I see is that there's a slight blur on the stock from my having to use the physical button for the stock camera. Other than that, I really don't see a huge difference in this lighting condition (just sunlight from windows).

For me just being able to touch the screen to snap a pic is worth the price as it really does eliminate the possibility of shake. I know stock Android camera app has an on screen shutter button so I don't really understand why motorola removed it...maybe it will be there when it's upgraded to 2.2.

Vignette does have a lot of nice special effects so that is another thing to consider.

If just snapping pics under same lighting conditions, I don't know if it necessarily takes "better" pictures.

First one is stock camera, second vignette.

Here's 2 quickies I snapped just before leaving the office today. Not sure I can see a lotta difference honestly. Gonna try a few more in different settings as time permits.

After reading this thread, I bought Vignette as well. I have to say that it's low-light pics are much better than the stock camera app. Way less noise!

That's been my experience as well. Sharper (mostly just cause I don't have to press the mechanical shutter button) and far less noise in lower lighting.
