Officially a Note 20 couple. Wife has the regular and I have the ultra. Anyway I have a question about the phone app.

On my Pixel 2XL, the Google Phone app had the dialer, favorites, contacts, and voicemail.

I downloaded Google Phone app to the Note, but while I see the other three categories, there's no voicemail app. Why is that? In fact I can restart my phone, click the phone app, see it for a split second, and it's gone. It's bizarre. Is there a fix here? I like everything under one roof.

I dld the Google phone app a while back, and it doesn't have its own vmail. The phone still uses the carrier vm. Maybe it's not available?

Voicemail is usually a separate app on Samsung that installs after your first voicemail but it is also device type and carrier dependant.
Do you have an unlocked device? What carrier are you on?

Verizon. Previous phone bought through Verizon as well. I do not believe I have ever bought unlocked phones.

This is a screenshot. Did a screen record and grabbed the frame. The VM button appears then disappears. It's weird.

I don't get the voice mail icon you show in the bottom right, ever. Odd that it comes and goes. Are you using any other dialers? Have you gone into the app and force stop the one not in use?

I've done that, no dice. I'm beginning to think it's not an easy issue to resolve.

You might have to use Verizons voicemail app. I believe only if the phone app is pre-installed on the device will Voicemail and Screen Calling features work. So devices like Google Pixels, Moto Devices, One Plus, to name a few, will have those features.

Me personally, I've been using Google Voice Ap for years and just have my number forward to my Google Voice number. You'd have input your Google Voice number in the Call Forwarding settings. I use multiple devices and this just makes managing my Voicemails much easier.

I believe the Verizon carrier model uses the Verizon app which is a red icon and should be in your app drawer or shortcut on one of your home screens.Screenshot_20201029-110718_Google%20Play%20Store.jpeg

That is what I feared. Oh well. Thank you for the info dive though. I appreciate it.

Yep. Looks like that's my only option.

Thank you for your input in here. While I didn't get the answer I wanted, I still appreciate your time.

I use my tmobile visual voice mail with the Google phone app and yes there is no voice mail button but I get notified as soon as the voice mail comes in.
