Using VZW S5 with Three sim card (uk) problems with sending text

So I just moved to the United Kingdom for a couple of year and brought my new Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V) that I used with Verizon prior to here. I went with the UK phone company Three and just used their sim card. It seemed to accept my phone with close to no problem except I cannot send text messages to other UK numbers. However, I have no problems receiving all messages sent to me Every time I try and send them they never make it. Then after a few hours I get a message error back saying " your text to speech message to (Phone number I sent the message to) has been rejected by recipient phone". Not sure what to do for it. I tried to download a different sms service but nothing seems to work. When I call Verizon they keep telling me that there is no way to unlock the phone and its already unlocked.... anything helps! Thanks

hiya. i'm in the uk and bought a verizon s5 recently. same problem for me. hard to find answers. did you manage a solution?
cheers.

Are you both attempting to use the built-in Verizon messaging app?
If so, try a 3rd party app from the Play Store, such as, Messenger or Textra and see if that helps.

wow fast. thanks.
i've been using the samsung mssg app and tried another couple, still the same problem. the reply comes back as a +44.
otherwise i'd just change all my contact no.s

The Verizon CDMA model, G900V is only compatible with the U.K. Three's GSM network on 3G, 2100MHz. Three does not use 2G and Verizon's 4G/LTE is hardly compatible with any of the worldwide networks. Three uses 3G for SMS rather than 2G.

That aside, in the stock Samsung Messages app, go to Menu (3dots) > Settings > Text messages > Message centre... did you remember to change the number from Verizon to Three U.K's message centre number... +447782000800

thanks for answers ironass. this version seems to have options of either GLOBAL; LTE/CDMA ; or LTE/GSM/UMTS in the network mode menu, seems to work in various configurations but no joy with txt.
and strangly enough doesn't have the message centre option where you suggest, only a delivery reports tab.
i've change access point names etc and searched deep for message centre but no luck.

All Verizon G900V CDMA models have that See, Will My Phone Work?

I am on the stock, Samsung, unbranded U.K. firmware with the built-in Samsung, Messages...

My feeling is that your Verizon carrier phone is pre programmed to use the Verizon messaging centre for sending original messages.

Seems you are not alone on using the Verizon model in another country and network.... SMS / Text Issues

THREE INTERNET AND MMS SETTINGS FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S5

EDIT: You could try the 3rd party app, Handcent Next SMS, free from the Play Store, as IIRC, it allows you to select your message centre in its settings and is autonomous from the built-in apps.

cheers again ironass.
yes that's the page i've looked at to find message centre no luck eve using many other sms apps to try and tap in and change settings. nothing.
looks like you're right, quite a bunch with the same problem unsolved. may be verizon keeping to tight a hold.
does you stoke UK one have international dial help. i've been in and about that too. no luck. think i'll try and return it.
is it worth sticking with an S5 though? i'm a bit put off.
thank for your help.

The Verizon model of Galaxy S5 is the worst model of Galaxy S5 you could get for use anywhere, other than on the U.S. Verizon CDMA network. It is, along with AT&T, running a clone version of the Samsung firmware which is the most modified and bloated in the world and with around 1.5GB less user storage on the phone because of this. See #1.6 of 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

Compared to, say, a stock unbranded Samsung handset, it is slow, laggy, battery hungry and is on a version of Lollipop that is almost a year old that has only received some security patches.

It is treated as a joke by worldwide Galaxy S5 users who cannot believe what Verizon and AT&T owners have to put up with. These 2 minority carrier variants are responsible for way more than 50% of all Galaxy S5 posts on forums such as this.

I have noticed, in the last few months, a great number of used Verizon and AT&T Galaxy S5's up for sale ever since those carriers made their phones unrootable.

My advice... get shot of it a.s.a.p. and get a worldwide. G900F, model.
