Re: **now with pics/proof** root,bootloader unlock,s-off at&t htc one x on 3.18 update!

An FYI that will save you time and spare you lots of frustration. Be sure to use original HTC sync cable if at all possible. I was using a cheap extra long mico usb sync cable that I had ordered online awhile ago. Works great for charging but it gave me issues trying to unlock bootloader. I remembered reading somewhere online to try and use original cable when rooting. I should have heeded that advice a day ago! Great toolkit. Thnx! Just got another AT&T HTC One X ( evita) as a warranty replacement 1 week before 1 yr. warranty expired. My original One X had been rooted for approx. 8 months. Now I can flash CyanogenMod on this baby!

Thanks for the tip! Yes, the original cable is what works best for these kinds of things.

Re: **now with pics/proof** root,bootloader unlock,s-off at&t htc one x on 3.18 update!

Say wizzrah. S-off is not working. Is "FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail)" normal during S-Off script?

C:\Wizzrah's Evita Toolkit v2.1\Wizzrah's Evita Toolkit v2.1>fastboot flash zip
PJ8312000-OneX.zip
sending 'zip' (36064 KB)...
OKAY [ 3.145s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) adopting the signature contained in this image...
(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) zip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail)
finished. total time: 3.399s

Re: **now with pics/proof** root,bootloader unlock,s-off at&t htc one x on 3.18 update!

Did a little more reading here. I see others have had S-Off issues too. I'll keep trying.

Nope, it's suppose to be Failed (Remote: 92 unknown fail or something like that)

The best thing to do is keep trying. Try different usb ports, or before you run s off, go to the task manager to kill "adb.exe"

Re: **now with pics/proof** root,bootloader unlock,s-off at&t htc one x on 3.18 update!

Well....not sure what's wrong then. I continually get "FAILED (remote: 99 unknown fail)". I see in post #582 they had same error. But it appears S-Off took eventually for them.

I flashed the zip immediately after that error then it worked???

Re: AT&T One X Root, Boot unlock, S-off on the Jellybean 3.18 OTA Update

I know the toolkit does all the stuff for you. Having started with entering in the cmd prompts manually. I gained s off by manually flashing the pj8312000.zip
Fastboot flash zip pj8312000.zip
Or something like that.
When I got the error 99 I did it again and it worked.

Re: **OMG NOW WITH VIDEO!** root, bootloader unlock,s-off at&t htc one x on 3.18 update!

Was hoping this would work for my 99 unknown fail. No such luck.

Re: **OMG NOW WITH VIDEO!** root, bootloader unlock,s-off at&t htc one x on 3.18 update!

Solved it! Apparently, when you get the 99 unknown fail you need to wipe the cache and Dalvik cache and retry the whole S-OFF procedure again. That should solve the issues. Hope this helps anyone who may get stuck here. Thanks again wizzrah! I'm unlocked, rooted, S-OFFed and ready to delve into the world of HTC ONE X custom ROMS. You are awesome!

No luck after trying this...

Yeah, S-Off is tricky for a lot of people. Just keep trying s off and if it still does not work, let me know. You can also try to uninstall drivers and then re install again

Maybe you should consider trying it manually.
What do you think wizzrah?

He could try manually. That way he could practice adb commands :P

Lol
I had to take a crash course when rooting my old droid incredible.
That's what worked for me. Manual input.
I did it so many times with the old toolkit that I practically memorized the cmd prompts. It's worth a shot through.
With s off now I feel more comfortable doing anything to my phone. It's a big change coming from using Odin for my old galaxy phones.
I think adb command knowledge should be a prerequisite. Even though the toolkit makes it so much easier. It's always good to know how to do it manually.

Amen to this. Adb is good because you actually know what the toolkit is doing to your phone (not that it's dangerous or anything). S off makes everything better!

yes sorry it is only for 64bit. I was working on a 32bit version but I am currently moving to a newer computer and I am transferring data as well as reinstalling programs. it will come out soon though! I apologize for the inconvenience!
