V10 Fingerprint scanner no longer works... at all...!!!FIXED!!!

My fingerprint scanner was working GREAT, and now it no longer works/accepts my print. Either with or without my otterbox defender case.

So I went and deleted the fingerprint on file and tried to re-do it. I get to the set-up page, touch the sensor and it does nothing. It just doesn't read my print at all.

Anyone seen this before? Hoping theres a simple fix or system setting before I return it to Verizon store.

I have an Otterbox defender and the fingerprint scanner does not play well with it. Not sure what network you're on but Verizon just had an update that among other things, was supposed to make the scanner work better. Do the update first if it has not already been done. Take the case off and re-learn your fingerprint. See if after the re-learn it starts working. Also, when the Otterbox case is on you cannot get contact with the metal bars on the sides of the device. What i have noticed is if you take another finger and touch the metal around the camera lens the scanner works much better. Doesn't work 100% of the time but the odds are improved. Hope this helps.

I had a related incident and had to do a factory reset. I activated (guess you would call it that) the fingerprint scanner, worked good. Of course, they want a pin/code (4 digit) and I sat it, same one I always used for my phones. A week later, for the giggles, wanted to make sure no problems. I wanted to undo the finger lock, put my pin in, said WRONG PIN? what???!!! Tried it several times. Only way to fix it is do a factory reset. Why it says wrong pin, I even had mine written down in my Verizon info, I don't know why. Won't use the FPS any more. Hate doing factory resets. and yes, before anyone jumps in, I am 100% sure I know my pin.

Thanks psf57 !!! You nailed it. I just did a factory reset and that did it. Not exactly sure what was hanging it up though.

I had to go back in and set a bunch of settings though, screen time-out, DT ignite, notifications...etc.
