I can't believe I didn't mention the fact that the USB cable actually sits in the phone without wiggle or potential disconnection.
Not much. I side loaded it on my G4 and never used it. It's basically LG's own app store.Wait a second. My AT&T version doesn't have LG World. What am I missing?
How does the 32bit DAC sound.?Decided to put my early impressions here since I used to have the V10. I haven't used the V10 since March but I had about 5 months time with it before I traded it in for the S7 Edge. First thing I did was get it setup and download all my apps because battery drain is going to be pretty crazy during the initial setup and the device did get quite warm. After fully charging it to 100% I've spent roughly 6 hours with it. Here's what I've noticed so far...
1) Screen - Brighter than the V10 and more vibrant...of course not as vibrant as my S7 Edge but that's to be expected. At least its not curved tho!!! =) I'm running mine at 90% at the moment...mostly to try and get as close the brightness I've been used to on the S7 Edge. I'll probably tone it down once I get used to it...I know that will be a big drain on battery life.
2) Battery - Much better than the V10 so far but I'll need to test this more. I'll post my results in the battery thread. But its not draining anywhere near as fast as the V10 would.
3) Speaker - Huge difference over the V10! Much louder and sounds better too! Very impressed!
4) Fingerprint Scanner(FPS) - Had 0 issues setting it up and its the most responsive FPS I've ever used. All I have to do is tap my finger on it and the screen is unlocked. 1000 times better than the V10 and even a huge improvement over my S7 Edge as well.
5) Second screen - Big improvement! Larger font and much brighter when the main display is off. I loved having the 2nd screen on the V10 but didn't like that it was so dim when the main display was turned off....made it difficult to see notifications. Those problems are gone.
6) Build quality - Ok at first when I saw the design and realized they weren't bringing back the rugged back and steel side rails I was disappointed. I thought that was one thing that made the V series stand out from all other phones. But the V20 is solid! It's well built and feels premium. I love the slim bezels on this thing. I wish the phone was a little thicker...surprised at how thin it is....but I'm using a case so that makes up for it.
So far, I only have a couple of minor complaints and they mostly have to do with software. Theming options sucks and are limited. I selected the high contrast one and it looks fine. I remember watching some videos where I saw people change the color of the font and such so I need to play around with it more. I thought after a year LG would have improved upon their theme store(LG World) but its still a joke and has maybe 6 themes to choose from.
My other complaint is with the "Knock to unlock" feature. When I had my V10 I liked having the option to unlock it by using a knock code when it was laying flat on my desk and didn't have to pick it up to use the FPS. Well, they brought it back in the V20 but now you have to enter 6 knock code instead of 4!! This is annoying!!! Four knock pattern was easy to remember but six is just too many imo especially when you factor in mistakes.
Anyways, I love the phone so far. Great job LG!
Yes sir. You have to setup pin, pattern, or password in case FPS doesn't work.
To get into the secret LG permissions menu? Are you still using QuickShortcutMaker?
Very nice and clean to my ears. Listening to M.I.A. on it this morning was a real joy. Listening to a FLAC of Billy Idol's Rebel Yell made me almost forget I wasn't listening to my Oppo HA-1 or Bursons. It's pretty darned impressive...and that was just with Bose QC25s. Looking forward to some quality Grado and AKG time on it tomorrow. How does the 32bit DAC sound.?
To get into the secret LG permissions menu?
I haven't tried on the V20. The Nougat permissions have pretty much killed the need for that menu. It may still be there knowing LG.Yeah and the block some things.. I think you were the one doing that
Dislike:
V20 the back battery plate doesn't really sit flush, you can feel a minor protrude from the bottom area.
The FPS on the V10 is.
You gotta stop. If you don't believe it, test the V20 yourself.
Would like some current V10 users to weigh in on their experiences so far with the V20 and what is better/worse than the V10.
I actually like the physical look of the V10 better. I think the V20 has that generic Nexus look to it.. But I know that just my personal opinion.
But other than that.. really want to see how they improved all the little things from the V10..
thanks!
Battery life and speaker alone are worth it for me. Also the wide angle camera on the back is pretty dopeok, so to sum it up.. I get that its a great phone and no doubt i would LOVE to have a V20.
But if you already have a V10, is the V20 really $800 better if you don't have cash to burn on this?
V20 owners.. please be honest. I know when you have a shiny new phone in your hands is soo easy to "want to love it".. i have been there before myself
thanks!
Don't tell my son this, because he has my old V10, but the V20 is ten times better.
