V20 Bootloop today

Apparently it didn't go out today, so there is the back , and the sticker you asked about?

The red XXX Mark on that white sticker indicates that the phone experienced water damage. Do you recall water or moisture getting near the device? Have kids that play with the phone? This is the first thing I used to check when customers at Best Buy show me their bootlooped phones.

I think you have it backwards. Red XX means NO damage.

That's weird lol usually it's all white sticker and shows red X Xs. I guess my V20 looks different. Could you post a YouTube video of the phone? Maybe we can help determine what it really is. Try enabling the recovery mode.

The red XXs are normal

All this hand wringing.....

You do realize had you read my post....this is my 4th faulty LG phone in, what, under 2 years? So I should forget the extra work on my end having to waste hours on the phone each times this happens, being without a phone, and the bummer of continually trying to factory reset a malfunctioning phone, then resetting up a new phone, only to have it default as well?

I don't think its hand wringing...its a matter of after a while, it reaches a "are you kidding me?" Point. I dont know what it takes to draw your satisfaction/dissatisfaction with a brand, but im truly not sorry Im upset I even waited for the 3rd model out after the g4 fiasco, the V20, with the same results.

In your view I should be thanking them for repeatedly fixing a faulty device they have had me pay my money for. It doesn't make much sense. They stepped up to the plate to make things right? By not fixing the actual problem but making life harder on the consumer constantly mailing away phones and waiting for replacements. You seem to be a poor business model company's dream. Two replacement phones is laughable.....four is a nightmare.

So I dont see this as "jumping ship" at the first sign of an issue. Its actually the last thing i want to do. But my phone is also a work tool for me, not a fun little toy. Being without it for days at a time, multiple times, is a huge ordeal for me. So no, i dont owe LG anything for doing that to me.

And finally as someone said above...the camera, which was stellar on the G4, just really hasnt kept up since then, and in some ways got worse. All leading to the perfect storm/decision its time to stop hoping for the magical change and fix for their line of phones. Not to mention the g5, which was marketed under all these awesome add ons for it, then abandoned less than a year later. Im sure those who bought into that model also feel LG stepped up and did the right thing?
I don't blame you at all Jamie. If a particular device isn't living up to your expectations, camera experience included, and it malfunctions after history with a particular brand by all means get out. Different users have different experiences and I've learned from the past that no phone is worth defending depending on just my experience. The last time I defended a phone, in that case the V10, my phone bootlooped on the same exact day. I couldn't believe it. Anyway are moving to the Galaxy S8/+? They seem to have the most in terms of visual flare, unique features, and probably the camera on the market right now-pending reviews. I personally love love the Xperia XZ Premium but Sony phones are difficult to justify buying off contract.

Allegedly, LG has fixed this problem with the LG G6... from what I've been researching. How long did you have the V20 before it began to boot-loop?

We heard that with the G5 and V20. The G6 is still way too new to know.

Well all that said, lol....here I am with a software malfunctioning phone. My 4th LG malfunction in well under two years. Not to be argumentative....but what you are finding hard to believe has now happened to me four times, so what can I say?

Couldnt get any video or pictures... I've sent it back as of this afternoon but I can assure you there was no damage. It was kept pristine and every port functioned perfectly, and was never exposed to any water.

I would also imagine you didn't try to unlock the boot loader & load something rogue with all 4 phones, right?

As for your defective V20....One person or a even small group reporting an issue doesn't prove that it's widespread or even that it's the same issue as the previous flagships. In fact, the fact that it died in a relatively short period is evidence that you got a defective unit. There will always be defective units with all manufacturers, some more than others. It would also be hard to imagine that LG would be the first to magically make the first electronic device in history without a single failed unit.

This doesn't really prove anything...with all these sue happy lawyers, anyone with an asset is a target. We really have to wait & see how LG responds to this litigation.

The survey they used to collect Data on G5 and V20 to make the decision to add them was more like a solicitation than it was capturing real data to qualify as true bootloop situations.

Oh...that's even better, it further proves my point :)

Yea this problem has been around from the G4 I believe. My brother is a victim with his V10 BUT at least LG was good about a free out of warranty repair. They repaired it free 16 months in to ownership for him!

Bought a V20 new out of the box last week and within 48hrs reading on internet restarted and stuck on logo screen.
Plug charger in with power off battery logo stays on even after you take charger out, also won't switch on with charger inserted.
Goes into factory reset mode but freezes on last screen when you say yes to reset.

Manufacture date says March 2017

What you are experiencing is different from a bootloop. Get an exchange.

Very true. I've had my share in the past with Samsung and their defective AMOLED displays.
