V20 Homescreen Inquiry and Observations

Just got my V20 and getting stuff fixed just right.

One thing bugging me is how I am constrained to use only two homescreens. I had around 4 or five depending on my widgets but apparently Nougat doesnt want me to make one. Understand I have decided not to use any alternative homescreen apps for now unless there really is no other choice.

Anyone figured out how to make more homescreens?

My take on the V20
=================
I am quite impressed with the phone and my old thinking of how useless a fingerprint reader on a phone is has certainly taken a 180 view. Damn useful given how most of the time using a smartphone one handed seems to be the way to go. Also quite please with how well the phone is handling itself when I play games. Damn thing doesnt heatup like my old note 3 did whenever I played a game.

Marvel's Future Fight, Kritika, Devilian, and a few others.

Nothing to make me pause to cool it down for a tad. Heck, even the screen does not get unbearably hot at all as well.

Big plus there. Always hated having to hold my old phone to my ear when I need to call. Hot screen. Hot phone. Etc. Etc. The V20 is definitely a leg up on my old phone. As nice as my note 3 was.... I am definitely taking a liking to it.

Battery life is good. A full charged lasted me through the day with basic usage. Data is On. GPS is ON. Screen Brightness to AUTO. Comfort view at HIGH. And a lot of ebook reading. Even listened on my music with bluetooth for an hour as well. It handled it just fine and managed to get home with 40% or so left.

Charged it to full... noted that the quick charge thing seems to heat up the phone a tad. Something to take note. Played through my installed games... 2 hours went by and my phone was at around 60-70%. And still comfortably cool with no noticeable heating on the screen itself.

Still playing with the manual mode on the camera. First time for me so I've done some youtube vids to see what it all means. ISO and shutter speed and stuff. Still testing the 16 megapixel camera for now. Haven't tried the rest yet.

Not sure what others are looking for on a phone... but the V20 to me is a very good phone. A definite keeper until someone invents holographic tech and better batteries and stuff.

The two home screens are by default but you can add others. I'm up to 5 and I think that may be the max. To add one, hold down one of your apps and slide it over to the next screen. Once you get past your second screen, a third should be added. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if the same can be said when you've got the homescreen and app drawer running. Have tried to add more homescreens the way you explained but apparently it's stuck at 2

Using the stock on for now. Without the app drawer since that apparently allows you to make tons of folders. And more homescreens.

Also found a good screen protector with the most unusual setup. A liquid nanoskin protector. Damn thing is quite interesting.

Water and oil just runs off the screen. And for those with oily fingers... it also just comes right off.

Application was easy. And damn if it doesnt make the screen slippery in a nice way...

Nanofixit loquid screen protector.

Hope that helps those trying to find a good protector for the lg v20. Did i mention it was also quite cheap.

An easier way is to pinch and zoom basically on any screen.

Ex. While on home screen, put your pointer finger at the upper screen and your thumb at the lower screen. Then bring your fingers together. You will see all your screens and one with a "+" symbol to add more.

You can slide them in the order you want and also tap the house icon to set whatever screen you want to be the home screen

Can it be removed?

Can it be removed?

Guy who I bought it from says that it needs to be reapplied after 2 years..... so thats about the only downside. Don't think it can be removed once it's applied. Best description of it so far is those new fangled after market wax you see in commercials. The ones where you see the water just slide off the hood of the car.

It's pretty good. Makes it easy to clean and even any residual fingerprints just wipe off easy. A plus to me since I tend to leave a lot on of it on my smartphones. Don't think its oliophobic though if that is what you are gonna ask.

Sounds like a good option for my S7e. Thx.

Re: Homescreens (& Dock)...

I've not (yet) encountered constraints on the number of screens. I'm new to Android and had no experience w/3rd-party Android launchers before briefly exploring a few yesterday. I've found LG's stock launcher (Home v4.0?) to work well for me in many respects. I'm using it with the "Home with separate apps list" setting for the "Home screen settings / Select Home" parameter. I like the icon/folder sizes and spacing, the default word wrap on folder labels, and the ability to color-code folders.

One problem I've observed is that icons for apps that support movement to SD card -- AND that I've moved to card -- seem to disappear from their original location on the (relevant) homescreens after the system is restarted. This applies to icon positions within what I understand to be called the "desktop" and "dock" (the bottom set of icons that persists across all homescreens). Those icons are still accessible from the App Drawer, and the apps can still be launched from those icons from the App Drawer. However, any such icons that are copied out to a position on the desktop or in the dock appear to be lost from those destinations again after a subsequent system restart.

Have not used apps that allow movement to the SDcard. Pretty much installed everything on the internal memory for simplicity. Anything I need to add like movies, pictures, audio is on the SDcard.

Yeah I love the way the folders are partially transparent and color coding too.. not that I used any other color save for black or blue. I am currently just using the home option without the app drawer. Fixed my up so all the icons are on folders. And spread them across a few homescreens.

I was kinda surprised when I noticed my homescreen appears to have a rain/raindrops live wallpaper over the pic I setup. Lolz. Caught me by surprise. Funny how I liked it a lot and kept staring at it until the rain stopped outside. Wonder if it will show snow when that starts to happen. Heh.

Did use the LG Backup and made one since I've ran into a damn browser hijacker popup ads issue on chrome a few days back. While it wasn't too much a big deal I ran it to test it out someday.

Still testing the camera. The AUTO option is simple and does nice pics. Ran some tests on night time pictures in manual. Learning as I go.
