V20 "legendary" audio performance vs. HTC One M9. Not even close!

So would the eq make the music seem louder? Because that's what I thought the op was getting at
EQs will boost the level at individual frequencies as opposed to just raising the volume on everything or just boosting bass or treble.

I'm reminded of when I dabbled in car audio and reading that higher end head units would have a lower line out voltage to the amps. This was to reduce noise, but also meant reduced volume (all else being equal of course). I'm wondering if something similar is going on here. Remember, the V20 quad DAC wasn't advertised as being loud. It was advertised as giving more clear and detailed sound with reduce noise. So perhaps it's also seeing a similar side effect of being quieter compared to traditional phone DAC's?

Ok, so everyone was on the same page with the equalizer making the music (louder)
Not what I was saying exactly. It basically allows you to isolate specific frequencies that you want to raise or lower instead of a single volume control that raises or lowers the entire sound spectrum. It's about more precise control which helps make up for acoustical deficiencies in equipment and or where you are listening to the music.

I thought it was LG app.... Didn't know it was the default Google music app.

Its really strange. Searching online pulls up so many people saying the Google Music EQ is completely missing from the settings, and then others chime in that its there. Even for LG G4 and G5. Some have it, some don't.

Out of curiosity, I opened up my Google music app to check out the equalizer (I use the Poweramp Alpha) and the installed default equalizer was the Snapdragon Audio+ that was pictured earlier in the thread.

This excerpt from the V20 help file regarding the hi-fi audio is where the confusion lies. LG is quite misleading about how the hi-fi settings and DAC work.

If I go into Google Music settings and tap on equalizer, it takes me to my default EQ, EqualizerFx

So did the original poster only register to make 3 negative LG V20 post on the site, and then vanish?

When you guys say Google Music player, are you referring to the native music player or Google Music Play?

You lost me.... What confusion is that causing?

Sorry, to the average user, the paragraph above in the V20 help file about the Quad DAC is a bit misleading or confusing.

"Quad DAC - Enable this option to use any connected external audio device and optimize the sound quality using this menu".

To me, and I'm sure many others, I understand that to mean, that it will work with any headphone connected will trigger the quad DAC. The wording is misleading and the help file mentions nowhere that you need to have a set of headphones that have an impedance above a certain level to trigger the full capability of the DAC. On top of that, the B&O earbuds that were offered to many, do not trigger the full capability of the quad DAC, so to me that is misleading the consumer. It should be clearly stated in the literature (help files and specs) that you need high impedance headphones to take full advantage of the feature that was a very big selling point of this device.

Just make the V20 to use all 4 amps all the time.

If I want listen loud I use my SONY 67ohm when I want listen normal and nice I use B&O over ears (32 Ohms

Just buy the right headset and you are all set

I see... Thanks for the lengthy explanation. I don't disagree though it does it does improve the sound regardless of what you plug into it. Improvement is less noticeable with a cheap set of headphones but I can still hear a difference. In the end I wish they had left it up to the consumer to turn it on or off.
