V20 versus S7 edge. Which would you pick?

IS the camera glass issue something I should be concerned about on the v20?

I wouldn't worry about the glass shattering enough to keep me from buying the V20. I am guessing that the number of shattered glass incidents are small in the grand scheme of things. I had the Pixel XL briefly and much prefer the V20 for its larger screen. I have the Otterbox Defender on my V20 with the built in screen protector removed. Using the screen protector that came with the phone on it for now, but will replace with a Spigen glass protector soon.

I was concerned about the camera glass initally, but less so as time goes and and after a half dozen drops or so on hard surfaces(hard wood floors, concrete) with no damage.

I am in my 14 day "grace" period with Verizon on my S7e. I am coming from the Note 4(looking back I love it and might just go back and wait). I picked the s7e over the pixel xl and s7(size to small). I never even thought about going to an LG or anything other then samsung. Am i crazy thinking this?

I am glad I have 14 days to research what i should have bought. Damn you note 7...

Dude, How many times are you going to keep asking? We have said over and over again that we don't think it's a problem. The plastic protector on the glass looks like it belongs there. Mine is still there and will stay there since it doesn't affect the camera and it's probably protective.

So you are saying it is Not a problem? ;) :)

I had the S7 Edge, hated the edge for multiple reasons( edge interface was useless to me and turned it off, and how it was just hard to hold comfortably) . I also had serious lag issues as well. (doing a FDR did help for a while, but it did go BACK to ATT)
The camera is great, the screen is wonderful if you like amoled.

I am super happy with the V20 with after having it the last month or so. It flies at almost everything I throw at it and has a wonderful screen. I am LOVING the V20 in comparison the S7 Edge for MY usage. I even get slightly better battery life on the V20 compared to the S7 Edge.
.
Same experience. Also, I have big hands and I would always be touching part of the edge screen while simply holding the device. Very annoying to say the least.

I also tried the pixel XL before my V20. If it wasn't for the bad reception issue, I may still have it.

Same. Had the Pixel XL and would have kept it except for the reception. Loving the V20, though.

Is it worth buying an unlocked V20 vs carrier one?

I'm seriously considering buying a V20 and BH sells it for 800 for no tax. Anyway if you saw my bad experience with the Note 7 fiasco with Tmobile trying to return it, I want to stay away from buying from them for awhile.

I know the v20 unlocked doesn't have wifi calling, but otherwise is it a big downgrade from buying from the carrier? Are their advantages to the unlocked one?

My only other option I've been looking at is buying iphone 7 plus from the iPhone store. I'm bored with my s7 edge and want a larger phone.

The only downside is maybe a lack of protection insurance.

Re: Is it worth buying an unlocked V20 vs carrier one?

I got mine for 299 from Verizon by extending my contract for 2 years who has been my carrier since cellphones came out.

I just did a trade in. They took my galaxy s5 and gave 200 bucks towards the V20. So 600 bucks is what I paid for mine. I have never had an unlocked phone so I can't answer that. But financial wise that was how it happened in my world. Verizon BTW

I'm thinking about trading in my S7 Edge for the V20 but part of me wants to wait a little longer to see what the S8 Edge will be. I like a lot of things about Samsung but there are a bunch things I don't like as well. I haven't ever had an LG phone. Android phones I've hard were S4, S5, HTC M9, S6 and now S7 Edge. I'm thinking it might be time to grab an LG. Non waterproof and no wireless charging is a little bit of a turnoff for me but not a deal breaker.

V20 over the 7E. That curve is bad nasty stuff IMO. The 7E is 5.5" display, but only 5.2" is legible due to the curved surface.

This simply isn't true. If you measure diagonal to diagonal, the flat portion is easily 5.5 inches. Not sure where you heard this.

I had the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus so didn't upgrade to the S7 Edge as it wasn't a big enough upgrade. I was hoping to get the Note 7 but we all know what happened there.

As I like listening to music I generally have my mobile and a dedicated audio player BUT seeing the sound spec of the V20 and the fact it's tweaked by B&O (if you get the right version) I decided to go for it. Android 7 out of the box? Yes please! Changeable battery (if needed)? Yes please! 64GB storage that's expandable? Yes please! Big IPS screen? Yes please! lol

I even like the idea of the second screen for notifications. My S6 Edge Plus was ok with the edge notifications but it wasn't always on.

I haven't received my V20 yet. I ordered it last week from Wonda mobile along with an official case and the spare battery and charger. Currently sat with customs so hopefully being delivered very soon.

I like my V20 a lot, but I was coming from the Note 4, then the failed Note 7, and the Pixel XL (which I tried and returned). If you already have an S7 Edge, I would just wait and check out the upcoming new releases. The S7 Edge is a good phone. I would only switch if I had an older, not so good phone. Personally, I don't like curved screens. But if I already had an S7 Edge, I would just wait it out and see what comes out.

Did your line charge go up $20? That's usually how that works. Verizon does nothing for free or discount. They would have rolled the cost into your line for the next 24 months. $480.

Normal line charge out of contract is
$20.

What about the camera glass breaking on the V20? That is a turn off for me. Anyone consider the iphone 7 plus instead?

How many times are you going to ask the same question? The consensus is the glass breaking is a non issue. It has only happened to a few people, but by no means has it become an epidemic. The Internet likes to make a much bigger deal out of things than they actually are...... If you are worried about it, get a case that is thick enough to extend past the camera hub.

True or an iphone. Why is there so much iphone 7 plus bashing on the LG and Samsung forums for?

Because you are on an android forum. If you are already bored from the s7 edge I don't know how the iPhone will help with that situation. Not much tinkering on the iPhone. Set it up and that's about it. I would think you'd be bored in a couple weeks.
