Hello everyone,

I received the update about 24 hours ago. It took about 16-17 minutes to download the file via slow 1.73 Mbps (215 KB/sec) DSL.

Verizon Moto G: anyone received the 4.4.4. update yet?

I checked it several times but had no luck. It just kept saying my Moto G was still up-to-date. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that I have never activated the phone and only use it as a Wi-Fi-only device?

I don't see why it wouldn't update. In fact, someone @android forums who hasn't activated his G yet got the update according to him.

I got the update about two days ago though.




Also, someone posted a link to download the update zip @XDA.

It is named after the firmware being updated not after the target one.

I have received the update. My phone is not activated.

I guess they weren't rolling out the update all at once. I checked for updates again
at 1AM this morning and it finally arrived! 10 minutes later, it finished installing.

However.....

Is it just me or does 4.4.4 not feel any different than 4.4.2 on the Verizon Moto G?
I have not noticed anything interesting. Just to be sure that the update was installed,
I went to About Phone and it did show Android 4.4.4.

Among with this update brings the Mobile Hotspot feature enabled. USB/WiFi/Bluetooth hotspot, they took away in 4.4.2. Glad they added that back in being now Mobile Hospot feature is available for AllSet Plans.

4.4.4 is mostly a stability and bug update. Since we missed 4.4.3, our 4.4.4 update also brought the new Dialer app. But the 4.4.4 also has many under the hood improvements. Also the Verizon 4.4.4 update also added the Mobile Hotspot Function back that was removed in 4.4.2 but that tad bit isn't in the release notes.

Just got 4.4.4 this morning.

Seems faster. Love the dialer.

Too early to tell, but there may be a very small hit on battery life...though I've been using the phone a lot since taking it off the charger (including more actual phone use than usual).

Hotspot is there and seems to work OK, though I haven't had another mobile device/laptop to test it with.
