Verizon acting weird

Root your Razr, install TiBackup, freeze bloat, profit.
Its not hard.
The Razr is a better phone in a hardware aspect. Maybe that's why the sales people said what they said. Prolly looking out for your best interest in getting a phone with a decent radio and battery life.

maybe that was a bit harsh but i do actually OWN the GNEX and the RAZR . the OP asked a question and everybody was like oh well the bloat and money and this and that . when fact is the dang gnex has known issues and maybe just maybe the verizon guy was actually doing the OP a favor . its not all a big conspiracy to keep people from buying the gnex . to the OP sorry for coming across that way but to me anyway its pretty obvious that the RAZR is the better choice at this point.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm very impressed with the battery of the Nexus. Played with it on and off pretty much all day. Took off charger yesterday around 8 am and now it is almost 9 am the next day and battery still isn't dead.

Better hardware? The only advantage that the Razr has over the Nexus is the camera and if you are smarter than the phone itself you can still get really good pictures from the Nexus.

I went into the verizon store the other day to see if they had the galaxy nexus but when I asked, both the employees started to act really weird. As soon as the words "galaxy nexus" left my mouth one of the employees tells me, "don't get it". He then started to push the droid razr onto me saying how amazing it was and how bad the nexus is. why were they acting like this?

1) I dont care.. why should you?

2) Yet another bash verizon/verizon csr's are idionts/troll bait thread...... yawn.

I am a big boy. I know what I want and I know what I dont want.

When I went and got mine the reps were drooling over it. The manager joked, "Hey, I think there are some activation issues with your phone. Why don't you leave it here for a few hours while we play aroun... I mean try and find the problem." When I left, all of them were talking about how they were going to get the Nexus themselves.

This was my exact experience. I upgraded both my phone and my wife's. Both reps loved the phone and wanted if for themselves.

I came from and X and my wife from a thunderbolt. I was prepared for some struggles as and early adopter.

excuse me but I believe I said TO ME its pretty obvious . glad your happy with yours .

you are contradicting yourself then because in your first statement no where did you say "to me" the nexus is a piece of crap. you made an outright statement that is 100% false.

I have made this statement before, and i will again. I have had NO signal issues OR dropped calls. I live in one of THE WORST places for signal strength, hilly san diego, where ISP's hate deploying wireless because of spectrum difficulties.

Regardless, there is going to be a fix in place soon from google so these trolls will have to find something else to complain about *cough* camera *cough*....which isnt bad either.

Spiffs must be higher on the RAZR. ;)

This.

This is all it is. Nothing weird about it. Human Nature on the employees' part. The employees participate in an incentive plan. They are incentivized to sell phones.

I wouldn't be surprised one teensy bit if VZW "coincidentally" aligned the Nexus launch with an internal sales drive that emphasized RAZRs and Rezounds. The best and most efficient way to bend customer facing salespeople's behavior to corporate agenda is to manipulate their incentive plan.

Of course, all of this is assuming VZW really is de-emphasizing the Nexus. The employees may have thought hey were doing OP a favor. Look around at how many people are griping about their phones on this very forum...

I believe all 4g devices have the same commission rate. Maybe they thought they were doing you a favor.

I browse the iPhone forums from time to time and a Verizon sales rep on there said they push android because it has higher commission (iPhone having less) and 4g devices have some of the highest. He didn't mention the nexus though since the post was before that. So maybe there is more incentive for them to push a non nexus device. Dunno

Will rooting and installing Titanium Backup on the RAZR get me ICS and an HD screen? D:

take my first statement anyway you like boss . but i was not 100% false saying that the razr is the better device at this point . just because your getting great service doesnt mean your not in the minority . i BOUGHT the device and have every right to give my opinion on it . I didnt see anything in the forum rules saying you could only post if you were singing the praises of the GNEX ! so far ive been called a troll multiple times whenever ive not personally attacked anybody . Some of you folks act as if your married to your phone . whenever i bought the bionic it was and is a piece of crap i didnt try to defend it i returned it and moved on .

and I actually think the camera is pretty good on the GNEX better than the RAZR to me .

More commission on the Razr, more incentive to push those and most likely that is the phone they are told to push. Same reason when you call they say home of the motorola razr.

How exactly is it better hardware wise? Because it has a tiny sheet of kevlar? Or it is splash resistant? All those marketing gimmicks? Because processor goes to nexus, yes moto has better radios, screen nexus hd>qhd, but what does moto have that makes it a better phone hardware wise I am curious?

Because the razr is the phone they are told to push sales on.

Absolutely, positively, 100 percent incorrect. In my over five years with the company, there has never been any kind of "push" or incentive to "push" one phone over the other. We don't get paid on phones. There's a definite "push" on smartphones in general, but never ever one model over another. Imagine the legal battles between the manufacturers if this was the case.

Because the razr is the phone they are told to push sales on. Look at their name tags, signs around the store and how many razr demo units they have. When I got mine launch day the rep asked how I even knew it was released cause he only found out the same time we did. The nexus is Google's baby not Verizon's so they could care less if you want a nexus. If you buy a droid branded phone everyone knows droid is Verizon and they want it out there more. Who cares what they want you to buy play with them all and pick what you like.

This. They actually get paid a little more for pushing a certain phone. In this case, the Droid Razr. I would also add that the Galaxy Nexus had a lot of bugs apparently with a previous firmware (possibly 4.0.1). So they might not have touched the devices with the updated firmware and in their mind felt they are helping people by not recommending the Galaxy Nexus.

yes moto has better radios
For sure this fact makes it a better PHONE. I still think the GNex is a better DEVICE for the screen and processor speed alone.

Though the lack of true USB transfer is really starting to piss me off...

I went into my Verizon store on the day the Nexus came out. Not only was there ZERO fanfare (it was at the back of the store, after you pass the Android tablets, iPhone and iPad and Droids, mixed in with a number of other phones like the Rezound), but the one example they had on display was the ONLY display model in the store with a tie-wrap going around it and bisecting the middle of the screen.

Huge contrast to the day they got the iPhone.
