Verizon acting weird

long live htc.. i really wish google would of let htc make this phone this time around.. we wouldnt have no issues right now... samsung sucks..

How do you know? Google chose Samsung for a reason. We don't know why they chose Samsung, and I don't think many of us know enough to speculate (of course, that won't stop people).

I'll ignore the "wouldnt have no issues right now" (sic) bit.

Take the information I posted earlier as just customer statistics. Samsung has actually had the best selling and least return to purchased ratio this holiday season with the Stratosphere. Not saying it's the grade phone anyone would buy here, but with young adults wanting a smartphone more than a car this sub $200 phone with 4G, 4" screen, and keyboard seems to be moving a lot of boxes.

Samsung vs HTC vs Moto is all an argument for software since most of them will use each others internal components or ones from the same 3rd party. Be aware this is a Google phone. Any and all bugs with firmware/software will be Google's fault/problem. This is Google's first CDMA/LTE phone and they are programming the radio not Samsung. That being said this will be the fastest set of fixes sent out for a phone in VZW history.

It's no more buggy than any other phone at release. To quote you, "look at all the complaints......" I've owned 9 Android phones since November 2009 and even sullied myself with 2 iPhones, each and every phone had some issue that needed resolving! So I guess the question here is, "Why you so angry bro?"

lol i guess because i paid full retail ! and you are correct every android phone i have had has had some issue or another . i will say my razr has been for the most part the best one yet . my point i was making was its not like its a conspiracy to keep the nexus from people . I have never understood why people get so defensive over a object like a phone . its like they need everybody to love what they purchased so they can feel good about purchasing it .

I'd be surprised if it wasn't just an issue with the way that ICS is displaying the Bars on an LTE network. Even inside, where I show just one bar at times, I have not yet lost connection, and speedtest.net tests are showing consistently high speeds.

As far as battery, I've been getting a little over a day's worth with medium to high usage. (I am on WiFi at work and home however). Once I stop treating my phone like my new shiny toy and constantly toying with it, I'm sure my battery life will increase.

I'm not saying people aren't having problems. From where I live, however, with my coverage, I seem to have not seen many of the problems, despite even only seeing 1 or 2 bars often.

Out of curiousity, how is the proximity sensor on your RAZR? The one on mine was terrible. It'd stop working for no apparent reason. It was pretty annoying to take the phone away from my face and see a black screen, meaning that I would have to hit the power button to turn on the screen so that I could choose numbers from a menu or even end a call.

I'm very certain the troubles everyone seem to be experiencing are network and handoff related. I have the GSM GNEX on T-Mobile and have Zero problems. I almost always have full signal. No data drops. I am not convinced LTE is ready for prime time. Seems like ALL the LTE phones have these problems...in one way or another. I have the Nexus S 4G for work. I have almost the exact same connection issues as I'm hearing described. I know the technologies are different, but a hand off still needs to be negotiated. This is why I stayed away from the Verizon Branded edition. Speeds are no contest...when. it works. I've found the reliability of the GNEX(not to mention the killer battery life....30+ hours on standby) to far outweigh the benefits of the extra speed.

It might be because Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

no no no.. where i got 4g all day without switching to 3g i cant get on a clear day next to the effing tower,, now i dont know if its samsung or google but someone better fix it cuz my thunderbolt is looking good again

Seems i have had all the problems with the gnex. Signal strength is terrible, nexus averages -117 dbm. I can be sitting right beside someone and we oth test our signal strength and there will be a 50 dbm difference! Dropped calls, text that wont send... And i have to charge the battery 3 times a day!
I expected to have some problems, i have had smart phones before, but the phones have always worked!

Unless Motorola is doing a "Sell X amount of RAZRs, and you could win one" contest for the sales reps, it doesn't matter to them what smartphone you buy. Too many of you people jump to the craziest conclusions.

Why would any sales rep care about what bloatware their employer puts on the devices? So many of you guys fail to make the distinction between what's going on in your heads, and what's real life. Sales reps are regular people, trying to make a buck. If it doesn't make them money, they don't give two s about it, just like you wouldn't. Selling a Galaxy Nexus or an iPhone, or a RAZR, or a Storm II all makes them the same paycheck.

Maybe they just ran out of accessories for the Nexus, so they tried to push you into the phone they had accessories for.... like SD CARDS.

I went into the verizon store the other day to see if they had the galaxy nexus but when I asked, both the employees started to act really weird. As soon as the words "galaxy nexus" left my mouth one of the employees tells me, "don't get it". He then started to push the droid razr onto me saying how amazing it was and how bad the nexus is. why were they acting like this?

Was it a company store or an independent?

it seems to work ok to me but then again i use a ear piece 99% of the time . what i did notice was that if you smash the power button and turn the screen off during a call then the proximity sensor does nothing . if not it works as normal . with my droid x it didnt matter if you turned the screen off or not it would still come back on if you pulled it from your face .

as an fyi, verizon customer care has no records of an issue with signal strength, they recommended I replace my phone before the 14 day no-worry guarantee ran out. the new phone has been rock solid

I purchased the Galaxy Nexus and at this point in time it is a joke! You guys with your "brand loyalty" always coming on here attacking people, calling them trolls just for speaking their honest opinion. Not only can you not handle honest criticism, hell you don't even want ANYONE saying anything negative about your damn PHONES! Talk about vain. This happens over and over again. Well, I'm not going to bash the Nexus because I remember when I bought the Thunderbolt on its release date and that phone sucked ass at that time, I was ready to return it. But after a few updates, rooting it, and applying a custom rom on it, it became the best phone I ever owned. I still love my Thiunderbolt and this Nexus is making me miss it. That is exactly what I am basing my current critique on, after purchasing the Nexus I should not be considering going back to my Thunderbolt. Now I firmly believe that the Nexus will end up being an excellent device so I plan to give it time. However until that happens I won't be lying to myself and pretending that this is the cats meow. One last thing, because of the LTE chips that they are currently using and Samsung's hardware I do not believe that they will be able to fix the battery issue with the Nexus and LTE. Everything else that a software update will fix, yes, but not the LTE drain issue.

And on my Thunderbolt I do not have to turn LTE off to get good battery life. What's the point in buying 4G?

While it is true the sales folks do not get paid more for one type of phone to another you cannot deny the obvious. Verizon is not marketing the Gn one bit. All the billboards, commercials, and ads are geared toward HTC and the Razr brands. You cant argue with the obvious here....

There are many ads and you need to look closely to see who is sponsoring the ad. Samsung is putting a ton of money into their Galaxy line and GNex ads are just part of the push with Galaxy SII phones and even the Stratosphere (Galaxy phone with LTE, even though single core). HTC is selling the hell out of the Rezound with just a small mention of Verizon at the end. Moto is making most of those Razr ads, not VZW. Also remember, the Razr is the rebirth an iconic brand (even if it didn't always have the best build) and it's a Droid - which Verizon pushes A LOT. By the way, I also worked retail at one time in the not too distant past and selling accessories with the phone meant a whole lot more than the phone itself. And while most on on straight pay (with maybe a small commission) there are lots of perks for the store meeting sales goals (which type of phone doesn't matter). JMHO.

When did you get a new phone and what android & baseband version is on it?
