Verizon activation problems

[Android Central Question]

I recently purchased an S6 and went to Verizon to activate it and they said it can't be activated because phone is retired and they are not doing new activation's on S6's and older because of the network changes.. I did't know an S6 is out of date?

On the other hand I'm in the UK, with no knowledge of Verizon.

I know Verizon will be shutting down their older network tech in the next year or two and its been reported they won't activate phones that can't use LTE anymore.

That shouldn't include the S6.
