Verizon advice needed

Keep in mind the demand for the Droid will drop as more and better Android phones come onto the Verizon network.

It will continue to be the only one with a physical keyboard so there will always be some sort of demand.

Well, the Devour has a physical keyboard (and, reportedly, a better one, though that's not saying much, compared with a Droid.)

If I were photog, I'd pass on the Droid refurb for now and just wait until your new every two comes up, unless your phone is broken or something.

If your phone is the only line or the main line on a family plan you can upgrade after a year to whatever the present deal is plus $16. You do not have to wait until the two years.

I'm still talking with a VZ rep, and it looks like I've worked myself into a deal where I can do my RE2 a little early with only a small fee. I'm going to hold off a little and see if the Incredible comes soon.

I really appreciate everyone's help here, and I'm looking forward to participating at Android Central!

So after getting used to it some of you think it's easier to use the keyboard than typing on screen?
I don't use the physical keyboard for anything except games. And applying updates manually (to start up in safe mode).

Having used the Droid, do you think the 5 home screens would be helpful over just 3?
Depends on who you ask. I'm fine with 3. YMMV.

Keep in mind which questions of yours are subjective and take that into consideration when evaluating or reading feedback.

I was itching to get my Droid earlier than when my NE2 discount came up. I found a good deal thru Wirefly. $50 for the Droid, and when you navigate to their site thru Bing using the "wireflly cashback" as the search, Bing will give you $50 (just have to wait 60 days to claim it).

I was pleased with Wirefly's service. I got a refund right away when I pointed out that they used 2 Day shipping rather than the Next Business Day I paid for.

As for the physical keyboard, I never use it. My last phone was an LG Dare, so my first experience with a qwerty on a phone was all touchscreen. Now all physical keyboards feel foreign to me. YMMV, of course. Its like the first girl you hook up with. Your first taste influences your later choices.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that they require a 6-month period where you don't change phones or plans or else you have to pay the full $500+ retail price. This was my first purchase from someone other than the corporate store, so maybe that is par for the course. I don't know.

Wait for the Incredible on VZ before you make a final decision. It promises to be a knock out.

This might've been mentioned earlier, and if so I apologize.

You will NOT be able to apply your New Every 2 to this device because it will NOT be available through Verizon, but rather only Google. If google offers a discount, it will be ONLY for new Single line activations (no family plans) or a slightly worse discount ($100 or so) for upgrading customers willing to move to their preselected plan. You will not be able to switch back to your old plan (for at least 6 months) either, or Google can charge you the equipment recovery fee.

This is assuming you can get it at ANY discount, which there is no confirmation you can do this

In short, if you want to keep your current plan, you will need to buy it at Retail (529 or whatever it ends up being).

Remember, this ISNT a verizon phone that Google is selling. This is an UNLOCKED google device (it should be just one model for sprint/verizon/otherCDMA) that is compatible with verizon's network and that Verizon is authorizing to activate on their plans.
