Verizon announces VoLTE in the upcoming weeks

We would never have this problem if people would stop trying to bring their HOMES with them! We demanded More Data, Faster Data, HD Streaming, Movie Streaming, Live HD TV Streaming, HD/3D Displays... If we would stop begging for More, Better, Now Now Now.... Things would stop getting worse <-- Lets be Honest

I am not understanding the point you are making.

I get his point. Basically many of us are essentially replacing our regular internet with the mobile networks. They weren't originally designed to be a home replacement, so the rush of everyone moving to using them and developers making more data intensive applications had started to clog the networks. That's why we now have data caps and throttling.

So it's our fault? It's our fault they build their mobile networks to the point of being faster than most Americans home internet... And since we want to use it.. We're the bad guys?

Sorry no. I agree with people maybe using it as their home internet shouldn't do that (the people who hack and use free hotspot) but if you pay for unlimited hotspot.. You should be able to use it.

I use a lot of data but it's all phone data. I have not replaced my home internet at all... I have comcast... But comcast isn't with me at work so I use mobile data.

Sorry I just don't agree with it being our fault.... They're building these networks to do this. It isn't a question if the network can handle it... It can.. Look at the new Verizon commercials ... Bragging about football and streaming the game on your device when the bar TV goes down.. On their "XLTE"... so they're marketing it that way... If the network couldn't handle it they wouldn't... But it's not about the network.. It's about money in their pockets.

You can argue about who's to blame until you're blue in the face, but it doesn't change the fact that the networks started behind the 8-ball in regards to available bandwidth compared to the (eventual) demand for it and is part of what put us here. And for a carrier to be honest about it in marketing would put them out of business. That type of marketing isn't unique to just mobile carriers. It's like that in just about any advertising. You put your best numbers out there, even if it is stretching the truth.

Like with that football game example. Yes, you can stream the game. What they don't tell you is that you should be using Wi-Fi for it due to the amount of your data allotment it'll eat up for just one game. Otherwise, your little 2GB plan will be toast.

Of course but my main thing is we aren't the ones solely to blame. Everything has gone mobile.. They've made it this way with their network and smartphones.

I agree with not using it as home internet... And I don't... But I will utilize my unlimited as much as I want till it is taken. I don't feel as if I'm a bad guy for doing so.. Since that's how they market it.

While I agree those who are torrenting or running 3 HD TVs and their home internet off of their phone using 600GB per month (yes there was a person on XDA doing that) are abusing their UDP, the flip side of this is that Verizon is fine with someone using 100GB per month as long as they pay $375/mo for that much data. Verizon only objects to someone using 100GB per month if they are paying $29.99/mo for it.
Well, let's keep in mind that it was Verizon who forced everyone onto unlimited data back in 2008, even after they were sued and forced to make restitution previously for charging people who used what they deemed to be too much data in 2007. If their concern was to limit data usage, after they were sued, they should have eliminated unlimited all together, but I am sure that they were still making money on unlimited at the time.

Also, 600gb in a month, while a lot, isn't that hard to achieve. I have used over 300gb in a day before.

Yes, WE are to blame... Grocery Stores run the way they do, and offer the things they do, because WE demand it. We Demanded more control over our tv's, cue in on demand, tablet viewing... blah blah blah! Everything we do in this world, or products and services we are offered are due to US Demanding it! If we didn't demand More and More since Touch Screen phones came out... I guarantee we would still be on 3G Speeds! No Company would be spending the money to build Super FAST Data Networks, if we were not asking for it! Let me go build an arc... even though there is no demand for it...

Likewise if you flip the coin.... Customer service gets worse (especially in home ISPs), prices increase 3x the rate of inflation, and more restrictions get put on as the price rises.

Sorry we're not the full blame... Corporate greed has a play. It's a combination of things... Not 100 percent the consumer.

I'll just say this.... I agree consumer demand helped drive them to faster networks.. But then greed also settled in some with them when they learned data was king... And now they're raising prices, putting restrictions in place, and in some cases bad customer service... Especially with home ISPs where some are the only game in town.. So they're free to raise prices and have bad customer service.. Yet still make money.

There is always 2 sides to the coin... Yes we're to blame for pushing .. And they're to blame for the price hikes and restrictions.

According to APPLE... Verizon IPHONE 6 Customers will be able to make VOLTE Calls out of the box on Sept 19th... So the UPDATE to everyone else should be coming soon!

VERIZON LG G2 has received the update to prepare for VOLTE... It also includes some enhancements, New Google Chrome
Screenshot_2014-09-13-19-16-11.jpg
The update includes Advanced Calling 1.0, which is the blanket name for HD Voice and in-call Video Calling that comes with VoLTE. Once Advanced Calling is on your phone, and you are in a VoLTE area, you can place HD Voice calls to others on Verizon’s network who meet VoLTE requirements (own either a G2 or Galaxy S5, are in a VoLTE area, and have Advanced Calling) and quickly flip between video or non-video modes.

THE FOLLOWING ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED:

Autocorrect functions properly when ‘?is selected

LG G2 on Verizon Got the update as well! I have ALREADY Activated it on my Device... Sadly i do not know any S5, G2 or IPHONE 6 owners at the moment... So i cannot test it out and see how the call quality works.. But here are some screen shots

A VOLTE Call can only occur when Both Parties are on The LTE Network and have VOLTE Phones... a VoLTE HD Call cannot connect with a standard Call on the older network! That is why i said, i cannot test out the quality of a VoLTE Call unless you know someone with a VoLTE Device

Oh wow guess you're right ... Very weird on Verizon's part. T-Mobile VoLTE doesn't matter about the other person .... If my phone can do it and the network in my area can do it ... It works. Regardless of the other person.

Weird how Verizon is VoLTE to VoLTE only.

Its all in the networks! GSM-based carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile US Inc. are able to use a newer feature of LTE called single-radio voice call continuity (eSRVCC) that allows users to move between VoLTE and a 2G/3G connection without dropping the call. Verizon Wireless is instead doing a VoLTE launch across its full 4G footprint, because eSRVCC isn't available for CDMA-based networks.
Things i do not know... If a VOLTE Call will ever be able to connect to a CDMA Call... So in 2021 when Verizon Turns off its CDMA Network, Will i no longer be able to call Sprint or Us Cellular Customers if they have not come out with VOLTE Yet?
